Beware slightly, the retrofit performed by Aston dealers on the new models is still an aftermarket solution, it doesn't just 'switch it on' on the existing screen.
From what my dealer described, a module is installed in the centre console somewhere and an iphone cable is left exposed in the passenger footwell. To connect a phone to the system for the first time it needs plugging into this cable, after which it will work on bluetooth. You'll need a cigarette lighter charger to charge the phone and use it on carplay, as plugging it into the car's existing USB port will default it back to playing music the normal way. I'm not convinced on whether the parking cameras will come on automatically and override carplay either as they would in an OEM installation.
I decided to go for a 'Magsafe' air vent holder, which iPhone 12< will magnetically snap onto without needing a case. This then puts the phone into a position that you can use it for music/nav etc, which is far easier than trying to navigate around on the merc system.

Sounds like it will be better than the Aston solution.
Dani who runs the Company used to work for Aston so knows the cars well. Watching him take my centre console apart was like watching someone do a Rubik Cube.

Could you please tell me which MagSafe support you went for?
