2013 Vantage Navigation issues / Daylight running lights

Hello,
I’m the new owner of a 2013 V8V manual. Getting used to some of its quirks but love driving and admiring its beautiful lines. Although I really have no intention of using the navigation system I’d like it to work. The previous owner never used it so I have no idea how long the problem has existed. For some reason the GPS thinks I’m about 300 miles north of my actual location and 27,000 feet above sea level. The Aston dealer has no idea what the problem is and says if I’m interested they will need to spend some time doing diagnostics, figure 2-3 hours of labor. Has anyone experienced a similar problem and know of some fix that doesn’t involve the dealer fiddling with it. I spoke to Garmin and since it’s an AM with proprietary software they have no idea what the problem is either.
The second issue involves the daylight running lights. The car was originally a USA model but exported to Canada, at that time the dealer had to turn on daylight running lights at all time to meet Canadian driving regulations. Now that it’s back in the USA I want them turned off. Turns out the local Aston dealer has never done it before and doesn’t have the correct software module and needs to order it. It’s very odd that it was a very simple $50 job to turn them on but will end up costing me almost $400 to return them to their original configuration. I guess welcome to the Aston Martin world.

I have a 2015 V8V and I do use the Garmin SatNav fairly regularly, and I use the cheaper Garmin maps on SD card rather than the official Aston maps.
I've recently had an issue with my Nav system (which also provides the time for the car's clocks) where my car suddenly decided the time was GMT rather than daylight saving (BST). My dealer told me that the car's Nav system thought it was in the year 2041. Then, for no apparent reason, it fixed itself. I only relate this as it appears the systems are not immune from odd problems for no apparent reason.
As the Nav system has to lock on to and use over 4 satellites to calculate its position it may be it can't find enough satellites. Have you tried the system on the move, or just statically? Because using the system with the car on the move might force the system to find different satellites. I'm making a big leap of faith that the UK and US Garmin systems are basically the same thing, but with different base-level software and maps
You can delve into the system menus and, I believe, get it to identify which satellites it is receiving signals from - I'm about to go out shopping in mine so I'll have a look through the menus to see if I can give you some settings to try. In the meantime it might be worth looking into the Nav system in the boot and taking out any map update SD card, so your system is just using the base software and maps. Any map update on SD is highly unlikely to be the issue, but it's worth eliminating it if there is an update card installed.
At the end of the day it's always possible that there is a fault with your system.

I traveled from Toronto to eastern Long Island in NEw York, about 600 miles. . It seems to always be stuck on the same satellite and seems to think I’m about 300 miles further north than I am. The GPS air making some connection as it does seem to know what direction I’m heading

OK. Sorry for the delay - life and cleaning a dirty V8V interrupted.
Having had a quick scroll through the menu (like it seems you might have already) there’s only a few things I can suggest. Starting from the “Home” screen:

- Go into “Navigation” and have a look at what’s checked in “Avoidances”
- In “System” check that “GPS Simulator” is off
- In “Tools” you can check the “Satellite Status” - I just looked and my system was seeing multiple satellites. You can’t do anything with them, though. You can’t force it to change, from what I saw.
- Last resort, unless you’ve already tried, is to take out any SD card then select the “Restore” option in “Settings”, as this should put your system back to as it was when it left the factory.
Thanks I did turn the simulator off, unfortunately now it can’t find ANY satellites. I tried disconnecting all the connections to the device in the trunk and replug them. Now it seems to think it’s July 2019. Still can’t find any satellites. There is no SD card in the slot. Was wondering if I purchased the upgrade SD it might fix some problems. I use WAZE so this is a problem that really doesn’t need a solution other than it annoys me when things don’t work, even if I don’t use them
