Yep, another banal question, sorry!

The dealer who sold me the DB9 fitted his own rather unattractive plates, so I've been looking for better ones.

HWM Parts do a pair for a good price but the caption underneath is a bit meh. Is it possible to get plates, or at least a rear one, with the wings logo on? Do any dealers do this?

A valiant attempt sir. But sideways.

I'd like 'ASTON (wings) MARTIN' - it seems obvious to me. But perhaps gone are the days when you could choose the text.

Somebody will do it I'm sure.

My Vantage's registration mark only has 5 characters, so I wanted a completely plain background for the plates.
At the time, Halfords plates had their name at the foot of the plate (a UK requirement I understand), but it was written in an almost transparent font. It is the same for the obligatory BS mark.
From a few paces away, no maker marks are visible at all, but it is fully legal.

Think you can order online what are called 'show plates', from makers in the Channel Islands.
They can probably do the extra design that you want, because they are not restricted by our number plate laws and are selling plates for use on display cars.

Here's mine .... Just got it on line. You have to be careful now as I think mine is illegal now.

Could be wrong

Funny this should come up. In the last month I’ve had two sets of plates made by main dealers (different marques).

At both I asked if I could have the maker’s logo on the plate, bottom centre.

No. Flat no. The best I could have was the dealer’s name, which includes the make as a word. But no logos.

Agreed - always used to buy their plates for exactly that reason . They seem to have gone metal and a printed name now , so not so good …

I wonder if that's a copyright issue, or that their Dymo label-maker can't do it...?

Just get blank plates from:
https://www.platesforcars.co.uk/mobile/designer.ph...

Much cleaner. The car’s name and logo is on the car. Up a bit from the plates smile

I can understand why Plod insists on the characters being perfect so they can nick you without leaving the office, but I can't see that a logo at the bottom would foil anyone's cunning plans to extract money.

Perhaps it's all part of stamping out individuality until we all end up in identical electric eco-boxes.

I tend to agree, but don't they have to put their postcode on?

I'll have to investigate show plates, but will make sure the important bit is legal.

If you choose the “legal” option, the PFC ones do have postcode, BS details etc but very subtle.

It’s who I use for mine too as I hate the plates looking cluttered

Not sure if they’ll add those if the logo makes the plates non-compliant. I suspect probably not.

Has there been a mention recently, of number plates now being checked for legality at MoTs?

Presumably people with PA1 1UKE type plates, now have to refit PA11 UKE before having their MoT.
Wonder if Pat Luke gives her husband the screwdriver?

I really don't know why people drive around with mis-placed reg nos. It seems like a guaranteed way to get pulled over.

But is the MOT man really going to fail an Aston Martin for having 'Aston Martin' on the plate (or a Ford for saying 'Ford')?. If so, then the answer as you say is simple.

Is this worse than people driving round with the small plate on the front?

My car with plate shown above sailed through MOT in early October.

My supplying dealer couldn’t manage to line up the characters centrally on the plate they did for me. I went 4dotsquare for the replacement.

Have to say I am not a fan of clutter on number plates.

I certainly don't want a Euro flag on there or an England one for that matter.

I don't have any window stickers either. But this is all just my personal preference.

I think the law says it must show the post code of people that made up the number plate in small font.
