DB9 centre console

One thing I notice about the DB9 is its stupendous lack of interior storage. It's either not there, or badly planned. The glovebox can't hold the owner's handbook, or even an A5 map, or anything thicker than 1/2", the door pockets are narrow and short, and the space liberated by moving the gear selection elsewhere is largely wasted. 'Yes but it's an Aston!'

My car is July 2007 and the centre armrest is just a flat panel. No storage underneath, and just a little 'trinket box' at the back with two weird rubber flaps that's hard to reach.

However I just saw an advert for a car registered later that year, and the armrest is different. It has metal cup holders at the front and looks as if it may lift up. Is that the case, and if so can it be retrofitted?

It can be retrofitted with a little fettling ( ie modifying the plastic underneath with a dremel or similar.

I'm looking at doing the same to mine.....but it's not cheap ( matching the leather too) and the owners if the later cars seem to moan about that armrest too.

I know from the other thread that you are not very keen on smartphones and such, but you can save a lot of space in the glovebox by keeping the manual in PDF on you phone and the actual thing at home.

I imagine they're extremely hard to find too. Matching the leather would be the pricey bit, though a tasteful contrast might work.

Luckily it just fits in the passenger door pocket. And there's always the back seat, which might be big enough. When I think I know all the quirks I might keep it at home for safety.
