unravelled ventilation hose

While replacing my pollen filters, I spotted that the ventilation hose to the door has unravelled inside the dashboard - probably about 150mm of it.

Is there a know (easy) fix for this, or am I going to have to improvise with some vacuum cleaner piping?

As the weather was nice this weekend, I finally plucked up the courage to have a crack at this, and I failed.....

The Aston1936 article is really useful, as it shows where the hose goes and how to get at it. However, its dealing with a LHD car where the only things in the way are the pedals. On the nearside of a RHD car, I have the whole of the heater / ventilation assembly and I just can't see the top end of the unravelled hose. I press-ganged my son to get upside down in the footwell, but he couldn't see anything either.

I even took the upper panels of the dash off before realising they are just trim panels over a solid dash - can't get in from the top.

So - unless anyone has worked out how to do it with all the ventilation gubbins intact, it looks like it's a job for Aston Engineering, as I really don't fancy taking it all out myself

Thread resurrection....

I've never got round to replacing the unravelled ventilation hose in my V8V dashboard - even my 10 year old grand-daughter couldn't get her arm behind the ventilation fan assembly to reach the union where the flexi hose plugs into the hard plastic moulding.

Yesterday, while browsing other PH Aston threads, I came across this photo:



The PH topic is clearly about dash-mounted speakers, which my V8V doesn't have. When I lifted my dash-top, it had no cut-outs. However, it got me thinking that with some careful Dremelling, I could probably cut myself an 'inspection hatch' which would allow me to get at the top end of the hose. Feels a bit drastic, but I suspect paying an indy to remove the ventilation fan housing would be equally drastic...

Any thoughts?
