Hi All
I know it's a bit obsessive but as a former chartered engineer, I like things to be laid out clearly, concisely and so that anyone can follow them. However, when I come to look up information for alternative replacement parts for my 4.7 V8V, I find myself wading through reams and reams of thread, a lot of which doesn't relate to the 4.7 V8V and a lot of which doesn't have part numbers. The alternative parts thread now has 10 pages but is related to all sorts of models and parts and has very little precise detail (for the 4.7, at least).
So...... not wanting this to be a moan, because it's not really, I have decided to compile a spreadsheet containing as much information as I can get my hands on but purely related to the 4.7 V8V. I hope to have separate tabs for interior/exterior/engine/suspension etc etc. I also intend to include links to videos and descriptions about how to undertake and complete various tasks.
So, my reason for posting this thread is to ask anyone who has 4.7 related information (even if it applies to other models too), which they are happy to share, to drop me a line so that I can include it on the spreadsheet, hopefully, for all 4.7 owners' benefit. I have a 2013 model and I suspect that there might be changes mid-model run, so any information concerning that is also useful.
I have only just started looking at this and only bought a few parts so it could take me a while to compile but the more useful information I receive the more enthused I will be and the more effort I will be inclined to put into it.

I'm an AMOC member and I can't find it anywhere. I shall be dropping them a line when the New Year gets underway to see if i can get that info. I also dropped a PM to a PH member who had said that the AMOC had a list of alternative parts, but I got no reply.
I don't really mind where the info comes from but I want something which is easy to reference.

Well done Toby for taking on the project. It will certainly be a useful reference for owners.
The Alternative Parts topic was an achievement and especially helpful that it became a 'sticky', but as you say, the information is there but as the topic grows, it becomes less easy to find particular parts.
Not sure how a spreadsheet could be accessed through PH, but I am sure you will have a plan.
I know from the tables that I have compiled, that it can take some time, but PHers are very helpful in providing information.

To be honest Jon, I'm not yet sure how the spreadsheet will be accessed but something will be worked out. What it will give, though, is a multi-layered platform so the information can be divided and easily referenced..... I hope!!

I'm a retired FIMechE with 8 years ownership of a 4.3 V8V - all self maintained, including complicated stuff like the front timing cover seal.I suggest you might as well make a speadsheet for all gen 1 Vantages, to which I would be happy to contribute my reasonably extensive experience of service and maintenance parts. There is more that is common in the 4.3 and 4.7 than there is different.

Hi JohnThat's a kind offer, which I am happy to accept.
I am mindful of wanting to get something that can be shared within a reasonable time period and I would need any suppied information to identify whether it is 4.3, 4.7 or both. The few parts, so far, that I have bought for my 4.7, I couldn't confirm as being trasnferrable to the 4.3. But let's see what can be done.
I'm also very aware that running my business takes up most of my time, which comes back to wanting to get something out in a decent timeframe.
If people can PM any information to me then I can separate it off into a folder and pick it off when I have time.
My New Year's resolution is to find more time for my own hobbies and interests (i.e. this) and not be completely beholden to work!! We'll see how that goes!!

The alternative parts sticky which I started was initially regarding my DB9 and V12 cars, but alot of stuff can be also used on a vantage.
I know its time consuming to read through the pages but the thread is for anyone to post with interesting non Aston parts info for any model.
If anyone can save money not paying the Aston tax is a good thing.

OP - Something web-based or downloadable would be very much appreciated by many on here.
I know! I was a member of FB, then I left because of privacy, or lack of it. But I have rejoined on the basis that I don't want to miss out on the positives and anyway, I sign up to things on a regular basis and although I tick the privacy stuff that I can see, I don't read every 'terms and conditions' text because life's too short and I use Google on a daily basis so goodness only knows how much data they take from me without me knowing, despite ticking any 'don't track' box.
I have to say, the 2 groups I have joined on FB have provided some really useful stuff.
As for the AMOC, I am a member but I don't like the fact that it gives the impression of being for the well-healed! However, it does have discount benefits which have the potential to outweigh the membership cost.
