Virage iPhone connection for music

Following on from my recent post, I've agreed a deal on a Virage. Can't wait!

I think it has the old 30 pin iPod connector. Can I connect my iPhone to that to play music? I had something similar on an SL63 (wireless adaptor).

What do people use?

In my 2010 DB9 I use a non-OEM 30 pin connector cable which I got from Amazon along with an Invery Airdual-100 bluetooth dongle. Work brilliantly with my iPhone. Track info displays on the OEM head unit (which thinks it's just connected to an old-school iPod) and all the dash and steering wheels controls work too. Can control via Siri too.

Congrats on the Virage!

Bluetooth streaming sound quality is pretty poor. Just put your music in 320kps MP3 files on a memory stick for the best quality experience.

FInd out of it has a USB input. If so and if it's anything like the Vantage of the same era you can stick all your tunes on a USB2 stick (64MB max from memory or it won't like it). You can then scroll through everything from the head unit and see artists, albums, tracks etc.

You need to set up the USB correctly using windows media player so you get the correct file extensions, but once done you just leave it in there.

Sound quality is far superior to Bluetooth.

I certainly think sirmarcus suggestion is great. I've used what appears to be the same(Bovee) on Premium and B&O systems and it sounds good to me. I'm no audiophile but hate poor sound even in my noisy car.
The integration with car controls this affords is very convenient.

I use a Bovee with my B&O system and it works great for me. I generally use it to play downloaded music or stream DAB radio stations. Dead easy to set up and it connects automatically when I get in the car.

Another plus from me for the Invery. But don't worry about brand, they are pretty much all the same.

I just have sometimes some problems while also connecting the iPhone to the car's factory Bluetooth, for calls. Sometimes calls cannot be answered/ended.

Anyone else?

I have just bought a Virage as well and was pleased to find that a previous owner has done the Bluetooth module upgrade so I can stream music without any extra bits.

Yes I've noticed this. It can't seem to have both connected at the same time. It has actually forced me to get my old iPod classic fired up again, so back to using Bluetooth for phone only.

Mine are working together, I just have this behaviour from time to time and not consistently.

I found out why.

If you are streaming from a service/album with lots of tracks and then receive a phone call, it happens. And by lots of tracks, I mean A LOT, I was using Poolsuite FM which basically consists of thousands of tracks in each playlist. I also noticed that skip/previous tracks buttons on the steering wheel are not actually doing much in this particular case of huge playlists: you can see the track changing on the radio display but the actual audio is not reacting, playing normally.

BTW, Poolsuite FM is a pretty cool service, 100% free with an iPhone/Mac app and an incredible cool website, mimicking a 90s operating system.

Tracks as well are incredibly chill, perfect for cruising along on the French Riviera or an Italian lake.
