Hopefully returning top V12V ownership

Hi Folks,

It's been a while but I'm hoping to return to V12V ownership in the near future. I've always regretted selling the one I had and feel it's now or never to get a replacement.

A must have for me is the lightweight seats, I found them so comfortable compared to the sports seats I had in the V8. But it seems there are very few of these specced on V12VS, so I was thinking could I possibly retro fit them to the right car.
My question is, is it possible to swap the seats over easily and where would I go to find a set of used seats. I'm guessing they won't be cheap as I think they were about 10k option?

They were a £2495 option at new, but are closer to the figure you state to retro purchase and fit. They are less uncommon on the V12VS than any other model, but for sure are still less common than the sports seats.

I've never seen a set of ECPS lightweights in person, but seen several pictures on fb etc. To my eyes they don't look quite right, well certainly not an exact copy of the OEM seats as they are meant to be, but I suspect only somebody who owns OEM seats would really be able to tell, and of course they are a much cheaper option. The cheapest option of course is to wait for the right car with the OEM lightweights fitted from new.

I seem to remember a full description about replacing the seats in a V12 with the factory lightweights, was posted on this forum quite a while ago..

The contributor would have been helped a little by staff discounts and perhaps first hand technical comments.

I see they can fit to existing rails so electric adjustment still available and can also have heated mat too.

Quite fancy this route.

Not sure what the airbag mod for seat entails.

I think maybe its the stuffing at the top behind the headrest area that isn't right.... In fairness most of the pics here look less "wrong" than previous piccies I have seen.

OEM seats have enamelled AM Wings in the middle between the shoulders too, which is missing from these. The base cushion and side bolsters also look too plump/large.

Ah, I think thats why I had 10k in my mind, it was the price of factory retrofit.
I'm not sure that I have enough patience to wait , but you're probably right. Alternatively there might be a nice Dealer that would help out.

I had a set of lightweights retrofitted. Main dealers wanted £19k. Managed to get a deal from Bamford Rose and cost was £12-£13k all in, with seats made to spec at the factory.

Have just listed my car for sale on classifieds today if you are interested.

Not all of them do Adam. I agree that those copies don't look quite right though.

Ooo, yes you are quite right, my apologies. Just looked back at pics of my first two V12V's and neither of them had the wings badges either! DOH!

Anyway, glad its not just me who thinks the copies aren't quite right really

Am I the only one who thinks £19k for some seats (with less functions?) is a bit…err…steep?! I understand why some prefer the lightweights but that’s an expensive option

No , I’ve with you . I’ve not tried the lightweights but I have no issues with the standard ones .

To be clear they were not that much as an option. Only £2495... Which was probably one of the best bargains when speccing up a new car yourself, given the aftermarket cost. So you could argue that the expensive option was in NOT ticking the box to have them, as it saved £16k of additional spend later

Out of interest anyone know how much Porsche charge for retro fitting bucket seats to a 911? I cant imagine it's that dissimilar really.

For sure! £19k is outrageous! Even £12-£13k was hard to swallow but for me the standard seats were ruining what was otherwise a fantastic car. The lightweight seats transformed the ownership experience. Bamford Rose gave me the seats at cost price and only charged me a fitting fee - the main dealers would not budge below £19k which just shows you the mark up they are working on for parts
