Parking sensors

Looks like I'v got a sensor gone bad, don't know if it's front or back. Do the bumpers have to come off to get at the sensors? If so any pointers on how to get them off ? Very little information on web. Sorry it's a 2010 DB9.

With the car in forward gear pop your head next to each sensor on the front. You should hear a ticking if it's working.

Do the same but with the car in reverse, on the rear sensors. That'll tell you which one is bad.

They're cheap to replace - Ford Focus/Kuga and plenty of suppliers. My V8V ones were £18ish, so don't pay Aston prices unless you want to.

To replace the outside rear sensors it isn't essential to get the bumper right off, unless you hands/arms are particularly huge. Managed to do mine by loosening the bumper enough to be able to reach up and disconnect, remove & re-install by feel.

Big tip for removal is to push the old sensor in from the outside whilst prying the 2 clips one at a time with a flat bladed screwdriver.

Just done the listen for clicks check and 3 front are clicking and none of rear are clicking so still none the wiser.

I’d hazard a guess 1 from one is out and 4 rear ?

Can't be 5 from 8 bad surely, Guess I'll try changing the one on front that's not clicking and see how we go. It's the outer one, does anyone know if it can be reached from inside with the wheel liner and airbox removed ?

Can't help you regarding the front sensor as I don't have them, but I would have thought you could get to it without removing the bumper. I'm sure someone wiser will correct me if I'm wrong. As far as the rears are concerned, it's a little too coincidental for all four to go at the same time, not impossible though. I would have thought it is more likely to be the control unit itself or the supply/earth. I'm pretty sure this has been covered here on Pistonheads before, try doing a search of previous threads.
