I had no idea.

McLarens new registration figures for 2021 in the UK were 326 (AML 1048).

However, this interview appears to show they are really 'flying' in the USA.
Sports cars selling very well, do not need an SUV at present.

Seriously though, do you consider 10,000 sales in USA can be correct (I think that was stated in the film) ?
They did not sell very many in the UK last year.
If that figure is true, it unfortunately shows up Aston Martin's Sports/GT sales in USA.

Well, according to their Q3 2021 report they sold just over 1,600 cars worldwide in 9 months, (Aston sold 4,250). So 10,000 cars means either that they had a really good Q4(!), or that's the figure for the total number of McLaren's ever sold in the USA.

I love Astons, but mine was probably the most disappointing and unreliable car I've ever had which spent more time at dealers. I now have a McLaren and can't see me going back.

Ahem, I know of no engines from Mercedes being used in current models (are you referring to the collaboration between Mercedes and McLaren with the SLR?) There was talk back then about further engines being used in future I believe but there was a falling out with Ron Dennis and Mercedes (thank goodness).
The 'Ricardo' engines you mention as used in all McLaren road cars since 2011 in the 12c onwards (so excludes the former F1 from before that) are designed by McLaren and made by Ricardo for them and so not 'bought in'.

The most unreliable car I’ve ever owned in 30 years was a Mclaren 570S. The worst customer service was guess what…Mclaren. I now own a DB11 and the local Mclaren dealer sniggered at me when I told him I was buying one. What he doesn’t know of course is I will likely never buy one of their products again. Not that he or Mclaren care. Got to say I made the right move. Totally different product and customer granted. But it’s the same £150k last time I looked at the £ in my pocket.

Don't know how many are sold, but they are a much more common sight than Aston's.

I think most of them must be in LA.

Jon, very cute... For the road cars, yes the engines come from Ricardo, but they are, of course, bespoke to McLaren. No someone-else's off the shelf engines.

McLarens are selling well here in the States (my dealer is the Aston Martin and McLaren dealer). I haven't had the chance the watch the film yet, but it's very possible they've sold 10k cars here (total since they launched).

Even here in Milan, surprisingly McLaren are more common. Not by much, mind, but in my personal experience I have seen more of them in the wild.
