Hi All,
After a few months of silence after selling on the car I'd said was a keeper (surely not), I'm slowly thinking about getting back into the fold.
The reason why I outed the V12VSMR was basically because I wasn't driving it as I'd become far too hung up on the "it's rare and what if what if thoughts". The events of the past couple of years have made me think that actually, I don't really care about owning the last of this, or the rarest of that, I just want something fun that if I put a ton of miles on it who cares, if I prang it.....well I'll just get it fixed and that's that. After all, when I'm dead and gone someone will just sell it and spend the money on a flash holiday and new conservatory anyway, so why be bothered.
Having spoken with a couple of members on here, I made my mind up that I wasn't ever going to really use it (based on being worried about doing so), and I'm not in a financial position to just look at it.....so it went......for more than I paid for it 3 years ago, so it wasn't all bad.
That said, having looked around for the past 6 months, I have decided that other than a Bentley Arnage T or a GTC4 Lusso, there's actually nothing else I'm interested in.....and believe me I've looked !
I've asked the Barista at Works to keep an eye out for a V12VS Coupe in either Ceramic or Morning Frost. I think I'm going to go for the full house and get a SSIII, as I've had every other option already (V8 SS1, SP10 Manual, V12V, V12SM), and the plan will be to use it as a daily and just accept that things might happen.
So anyway, I hope everyone on here is doing well and keeping safe, and hopefully in the not too distant future I'll be back in the game as Micky would say.

Good to see you still have the bug
and that you've adopted the correct attitude to how they should be used. My biggest issue is constantly running around with the kids which stops me from using them more.
I increased the mileage on my GT3 by 50% in two months after I bought it and will do so again this year. Vanquish will probably tip over 20k as well, making it worthless

That`s the spirit, Ryan. Focus on the fun of driving the Aston thought process, rather than the "what if I hurt it`s value" factor. Good luck with the search, I am having similar machinations recently, it`s just been over a year since I let the Tungsten Terror go, and this needs to be rectified...

Good to hear you’re still in the land of living - just watch Stanton though bless him - that coffee is expensive.
I moved my V12S on at the start of Covid as wfh and gathering dust. I stupidly bought a new Vantage subsequently then sold that too amongst other fleet movements.
Probably should have kept the V12 ( SS3 ) but hey ho still got the GT8.
Just bought one of the last Carbon Black spec Audi R8 and Paddy 328 ( Emerald Detailing ) working his magic here as we speak.

Welcome back. You just know it’s an itch that will never go away! Nice dilemma to have though, and I look forward to hearing how your search progresses. I often have a trawl through the for sale adverts on here and elsewhere and I’m sure I saw a seven speed V12VSRM for sale (I think it was at Romans?) recently. At the time I thought it looked very similar to your car as it had cream leather, and I guess I now know the answer. I hope you manage to find what you’re looking for, although I somehow suspect you may get enticed by the exotic aroma of the coffee and end up with something somewhat different! Good decision, Ryan! I know it’s tough to think about using these mobile art forms at times. Recently had a wobble after using it over winter. I tried to avoid the salt, but I know there will be some fraction of deterioration underneath from using it.
To hell with it. I’ll get that cleaned and protected underneath soon (need suggestions for a good place in the area to do that soon). If anything needs replacing in the coming years, it’ll get replaced.
At the end of it all, who are you buying the car for? You or the next owner? When we’re sitting in a nursing home, tethered down by our incontinence pants, are you going tell the nurse tales of financial prudence, or the time you blasted the 205mph beasts up the twisty road?

Nick, if I use mine over winter and think there may be salt about, when I get home, I run one of those fairly small lawn sprinklers under the car on the end of a hose at just enough pressure to reach the underside of the car. I’m fairly sure that will shift any salt residue without resorting to the dangers of pressure washers. Only takes a few minutes and it’s better than not driving the car To hell with it. I’ll get that cleaned and protected underneath soon (need suggestions for a good place in the area to do that soon). If anything needs replacing in the coming years, it’ll get replaced.

Yeah - I tend to hose it down on the underside once it’s all cooled down. But trying to avoid salt is my #1 approach. oh and welcome back OP - good luck on the V12VS search!But damned if that glorious V12 will sit silent for months

I had a V12, low miles etc and had the same “what if” thoughts.
I’ve now got an N430 at 60% the price but 90% the fun factor , in fact, maybe equal fun as you can ring out the v8 more often and it sounds so good.
I looked at many things, some twice the price , but for driving, feeling and ownership the vantage still wins out.
I have kept it in the garage since Christmas with all the salt around here, but soon coming out to play

I never thought I would be in a position to own an Aston let alone a V12VS. As special as it is (particularly in Australia where they are fairly rare) the main joy is driving it to the limits of my ability (well within the limits of the cars ability if I'm honest) on country roads as often as I can. It's an investment in my life not my bank account.
Trust you find the car you want, enjoy it without worry (about mileage, stone chips, depreciation, wear and tear, resale, running costs, the war against speed, electrification and the growing stigma attached to ICE cars), and just feel the joy of driving something so special

Rear subframe is the biggest underneath issue on Gayton Vantages.
I know AM Performance in Macclesfield do an exchange service, so you can drive your car in and have a fully protected subframe fitted and drive out the same day. They keep yours as a core to refurb for the next customer.
Saves having the car away for a few days and very worthwhile doing if you’re having a clutch change.

I'm in no rush so for now will stick to my guns for a Ceramic or MF example, but in time that might change if nothing comes along.
As Wayne has done, I must admit that I considered going for a V8S, but the one I liked got snapped up before I got there (Ceramic with yellow accents and calipers). That said, having had the V12 I know that i'll always hanker after one if I got the V8, so might as well just get one anyway (shameful way to think I know, but it's true).
MF with lightweight wheels and seats would be the top choice, but I'm realistic about what's out there, so it'll depend more on what comes along vs what I ideally would like really.

I’m sure they would. Ring and ask for Mark. The underside is easy to clean and once the subframe is out they can apply XCP Rustblocker or ACF50.Anybody had AMP do this for them?
Mind you - aside from the subframe there’s little that would need protecting.
Without wishing to get you drooling too much, here’s a few pics…
Mind you, I did most of that in my garage although wouldn’t hesitate to use AM Performance for the subframe. I had all my suspension bits vapour blasted and then protected them with XCP.
