Anyone know this 4.7 V8V

4.7 for sale on ebay:

Been on there a while, but seems a good price for a 4.7.
The advertiser says it used to belong to the "main guy from the AM club"
Just thinking maybe someone here knows who that is or the car itself..???

I don’t know the car, but the ad itself would put me off.

Poor pictures, not enough specific detail, and whatever superlatives I used to describe my car with, amazing with fuel isn’t one of them.

Swarovski key, 500hp……Doesn’t look the the seller knows much about the car.

Exactly my thoughts! I'm guessing maybe it's a Cat D or something, but doesn't seem the seller knows the car very well or certainly not good at advertising.

Am I reading the first registration date correctly - 14th January 2008 (could not see reg mark to check in photos)?
If correct, then that was even before the 4.7 was officially announced.
Could it have been a development car, unlikely because those are usually all scrapped ?

Expect you know, the all black look is not original.

The mention of AMOC is amusung. Giving the impression that person must look after cars better than any other owner.
Perhaps they should have said, owned by an AMOC Concours Judge, although on second thoughts, those people award most points for originality, plus a few extra for absence of dust in the tyre treads. ~

The photographs are very poor, the description is laughable and the price is very low for a 4.7

The all black look is not to my taste, looks very backward cap wearing boy racer!!

I would give this a very wide berth.

I have one of the earliest 4.7’s and it was June 2008 it was first registered. Not all development cars were scrapped but then that depends what your definition of development was.

Yes, I knew your Vantage is one of the earliest, but only two months before the main customer deliveries began in early September 2008.
Do you know the early story of your car? Was it perhaps Aston Martin owned in the beginning ?

If the first registration of the Topic car was January, that does seem extremely early.

I presume part of the scrapping reason is obviously safety, but many are not fully completed cars in all respects, because often only one or two aspects are being tested at a time. Interior trim might be absent and various holes often drilled to secure test equipment. I understand a further reason is the offsetting of cost in accounts as research and development spending, unrelated to the normal sales process.

I would agree with the other responses to your question, and I think you probably knew the answer before you asked it. It’s a very poorly presented advert, and it doesn’t look straight to my eyes at all. My advice would be steer clear, and wait until the right car turns up. I’m not sure I would feel entirely comfortable buying any car via eBay, let alone an Aston Martin!

Yep totally agree... thing I don't get is why you would make a dodgy advert look so dodgy!
If I was going to scam someone, I wouldn't write scam all over it.
Suppose I was curious if anyone knew the story behind that car - either way there are plenty others out there to bother messing with someone who is either very dodgy or is the worst advertiser in the world

It was Aston owned being one of the KX cars. I was told by main dealer selling it to me it was used for some interior work then made full spec. Now that could of meant different seats or glove box and someone in the company took it home for 2 weeks to “test” it, don’t know. It’s a mainly US colour as there are one or two Fire Red UK 4.3’s and some UK V12’s but no other man 4.7’s in the UK. Of course I’ll stand corrected if someone does.
