V12VS on Collecting Cars
Discussion
Anyone know the car? What do we think it'll reach?

Looks pretty tidy. It had roughly 3 years of basically sitting about but has accumulated a few more miles in the last year which will have got things moving again - I wonder if it changed owners in 20/21? Sadly, whatever it goes for it'll be too rich for me, but with the market as it is it'll probably go for top dollar - the only downside for some of the hardcore purists (Weeeell, it's an Aston Martin Vantage with a V12 engine....) might be the SSIII transmission.
As an aside, I never realised that the V12VS had the painted "lipstick" around the grille - was this standard on all V12VS's?

Be very interesting as it's the sort of spec' I may have gone for. Oh, and I prefer the 'fat' seats as it's called as they fit and suit the interior better imho. The lightweight seats look a bit aftermarket for my liking. Just my slant
I agree, had fat seats in both mine, Le Mans and back and got out both ways not having felt i had driven

exactly this. Could've drove mine all day long. Under £70k with a day to go, nice colour and low mileage. A tempting prospect. The two things that would stop me putting in a bid would be the fact I couldn't do the important checks like the state of the CCM brakes and misfire count on the V12 and the second would be the wife, pointing out that I already have a Vantage. Puppy eyes and "But...but...it's a V12!. And it's an 'S' to boot!" would not cut any ice, sadly.

What sort of money are these two issues to replace/fix in a worst case scenario, and are they very common (the brakes/misfire, not the wife!)?

Brakes: say £3k per corner. But the chances of them needing to be fixed are not high. If the car has been tracked a lot over its 13k miles then that will take a chunk out of their life. More likely is that they have tens of thousands of miles of life in them. Misfire: can’t say I’ve ever heard of anyone getting a report like this. Bamford Rose say that the V12 can ingest particles of its primary cat (either causing or caused by a misfire - can’t now recall which way round it goes) but failures of that V12 engine are very rare AFAIK. It’s not like a Porsche overrev report where range 3 or upwards sounds alarm bells.

That car looks amazing and it's even in Stroud next to me...
Paul, leave your Vantage at mine (I'll look after it) and you drive back in the V12 s - your wife will never know, just tell her your car was always that colour

Really? Nearly £9k for a second-hand set on AMBits https://www.astonmartinbits.com/models/5-V8-Vantag... that's just the parts.Misfire: can’t say I’ve ever heard of anyone getting a report like this. And wear is not the problem you need to look for with CCM's - it's whether the bolts holding the discs to the bells have corroded and whether some numpty has used wheel-cleaning solutions to make it look nice and shiny and etched the surfaces of the rotors.
As far as the cat ingestion goes then considering the cost of a new engine I'd want to know before I bid (and yes it is rare. But it does happen).
But you do you, of course.
