Vantage sat nav
Discussion
Hello everyone.
Just collected a 2021 Vantage What a car!! Sat nav is a bit basic, based on an early Mercedes comand I think.
Has anyone managed to update the system to include speed limits on roads and the ability to enter a house number in the address menu.
Any feedback would be really useful
Thanks
Mike

Well an air-vent holder might be acceptable on an older style vantage when you can drop the built in nav and tuck it away but on the current vantage the OP has there's a hard ipad stylee screen stuck on the dash, so I think an airvent holder for your mobile phone in addition to this would look bobbins, as you say really.
Such a shame that they sacked off AMi III which is really very good indeed, in stark contrast to all the earlier AMi versions Sat Nav which were average at best. I absolutely love the opensource maps and they 3D buildings in my city which seem to constantly update (not entirely sure how, they must download somehow).
I wouldn't dream of using a phone based nav instead of it really. I guess the bit in waze where it updates mobile cameras based on other users experience is a nice touch, but AMi III has static camers built in along with speed limit notifications, so its not sufficient reason alone to get me to swap from the slick AMi III Nav to a rather heath-robinson phone stuck on the dash affair.
Lets hope the next generation of bespoke AM infotainment referred to in several other threads is in effect AMi IV....
As for the OP, I guess you have some stark choices at the moment. Maybe AM will offer an AMi IV upgrade next year once its released?

It should be the same system as my old DB11 in which case it did allow house numbers if you entered the address rather than the postcode. It didn’t do speed limits which I agree is useful. My new DBX has the later system and it does do speed limits. Just collected a 2021 Vantage What a car!! Sat nav is a bit basic, based on an early Mercedes comand I think.

Well here's a weird situation. My 2015 V8V with the Garmin system and low-res screen does both street addresses with numbers and speed cameras, as well as speed limits on most roads. Is the early MB system really that much of a a step back?I don't know the system specifically but there are plenty of MB Android auto and Apple car play interfaces online. Usually have control via car and the ability to go standard interface or AA/ACP.
They are quite reasonably priced.
Not sure if Aston installations offer anything for one so new but they are worth a call as they are top guys.

Apologies didn’t read OP’s post properly and missed off the 2021.I shall graciously defer to those better informed on more recent models than the original VH Vantages.
Sorry to resurrect this post.
Did anyone find out how to update the maps on the 2018 on Vantage. My wife's car has maps that are way out of date and I wondered if anyone had managed to find an update path or whether the Mercedes maps could be used since it is basically a Mercedes system. If all else fails I will just have to contact AM Works.
