False high temp alarm

My 2017 Rapide S shows a very sudden high temp alarm and message to pull over safely. Fortunately I was very near my driveway. It was a cool 57 degree day, no visible coolant loss, no steam, engine cool to touch. The cooling fans went nuts. On off on off full blast. Had it flat bedded to dealer. Fortunately 2 months left on original warranty. Any ideas as to cause? Temp sensor somewhere? Best wishes.
similar incident happened to my 2015Vanquish a18 months ago. By the time it was delieverd home on flatbed, everything was normal. Could not reproduce the fault and it has never happened since. Dealer said im may have been a faulty temp sensor. I deduced that it didn't overheat nor was there any coolant loss, so it was most likely an electrical gremlin.
I had this same issue on my 2015 Vanquish. I immediately pulled off the road, and stopped the car. Popped the hood open to see if a hose might have come off or something, but everything looked fine, and the engine did not seem even very warm. I had only driven a couple of miles from cold.
I waited about half an hour, restarted the car, but the red warning came on almost immediately. I called the nearest dealership (about 200 miles away) to let them know my car was going to be arriving on a flatbed transport, then called Aston Martin Roadside Service. Those guys are awesome.
The car arrived at the dealership too late to work on it right away, so they waited until the following morning. They first checked visually, then checked to see if the car had “thrown a code”. Nothing.
Finally started the car, took a short drive, and the warning lights went off. Back at the dealership, there were still no error codes, though. The tech determined that the thermostat was working fine, so the culprit had to be a faulty sensor, and he replaced it.
I never had a problem again, and I kept the car until I bought my 2018 Vanquish S.
I suspect your car has the same faulty sensor.
I sure sympathize with the heart stoppage that accompanies a big red warning light….as well as the exhale of relief when it turns out to be a nothing-burger.

Same here on my 2015 Vanquish.
Stopped at a set of traffic lights having driven from Paris to the Mayenne and the temp gauge shot up to max.
I stopped the engine, had a look for any leaks and found nothing untoward. I started it up again and it was miraculously back to normal.
It's never happened since after 4 months of ownership and quite a few miles.

To close this issue on a positive note: after 2 weeks waiting in line at the dealer and nearly a week waiting for the part, all is well. As suspected the problem was a faulty coolant temp sensor. Accessible on top at front of engine. I think they only removed the fuel rail cover. The sensor was $454 (US) but all was warranty covered. 2 months later when warranty expires I would be crying but happy now. I did have to show purchase papers to prove still under warranty. They didn’t believe it. Great keeper car.
