Swap Vanquish + Disco for RS6?

I can see the attraction. It depends upon your emotional attachment, particularly to the AM, and whether or not it’s getting much use vs the cost of ownership.
RS6s are mighty everyday cars with great flexibility, but it’s not an AM. If that’s not an issue, good luck with your new car.
PS. Assume you’ve considered that other 4-wheel drive, seating for 7, 0-60 in under 4 seconds and ‘gull wing’ doors offering? With fuel costs as they are and electrification rapidly making headway, a Model X must surely feature in any shortlist!?

I had a Discovery, 2.5 tdi 7 seater and it was a hugely practical vehicle and was great off road and in the rugged stuff, but I don`t really do that any more. I have also owned an S6 avant and currently a 2014 A6 allroad BiTdi. The performance, size and practicality of these Audis is perfect for our family use and I wouldn`t go back to a Discovery based on my current work and lifestyle. The air suspension on the allroad has been useful on occasion but if you never leave the black top I often think an RS6 would be the perfect one car solution. Of course being able to have a Vantage parked alongside the allroad means I don`t need to consider that.
1. Keep the Vanquish. If you are a dedicated Aston fan, I fear you would regret selling it.
2. Here’s one : Swap the discovery for a Skoda Superb estate. Same size as an RS6 and probably infinitely more reliable and cheaper to run than the LR
My son has one and they’re brilliant.
I do get Audi RS cars. I have a 2007 B7 RS4, which basically drives and feels like new. Build quality is exceptional. But it’s certainly no Aston - although it is faster cross country than my old V8 Vantage.

I am sure you are a very respectful driver of your Vanquish, upholding the tradition of rare understated Aston Martins.
The RS6 is a fine example of interesting engineering, but are you really willing to change to the required Audi driving syle ?
They have rules which must be obeyed;
1. Only start the engine, if you are feeling bad tempered
2. Always park far enough on pavements, so that people in wheelchairs, or mothers with prams, cannot get past.
3. You will be given an entitlement as an Audi driver, where the car ahead always allows you to you overtake. However to claim that right, you do need to follow close enough to frighten the driver.
4. On a narrow road, when an oncoming motorist stops (it might be a Vanquish driver) allowing you to go ahead, you must never wave thank you. Preferably give them a scoffing glare.
5. Drivers of the largest Audis must always straddle two spaces in car parks.
Keep the Vanquish - end of a line very special car.
Disco is poop, its not even a good RR. If you really must get a RR, at least do it properly! That said my experience of RR was that the dealers will peel the skin off your back every time you take it in for a service, so will never buy another RR, period.

I wouldn’t sell a vanq for an rs6 but that’s just me.

Having said that, if you’ve owned a JLR product, you know what issues are already I’d suggest.

I think you have a couple of conundrums here:
1. You don't want to drive fhe AM too much because you need it to remain special and nice and low mileage etc.
2. The car you use more regularly is a bit boring.
If my guesses are correct then the answer is simple. Keep the AM - that's obvious - and just use it all the time. If you really can't stomach that then just get a more interesting 'other' car. No specific suggestions from me because there are lots of options, probably too many. You don't need to spend a fortune.

I can only echo what others have already said.
RS6 is amazing engineering and hugely capable. However, after a few drives and engaging warp speed I found it a bit mundane to the extent I couldn't really get where it fits. Licence losing speed and just "cruising" in it at sedate speeds it felt no more special than an S-Line 3 litre TD A6 estate to be honest.
I am glad cars like that exist whilst they are allowed and it should be celebrated for being able to deliver what it does considering its size. However, its no Aston and never will be. If you could afford to run one alongside, then that would make a great pairing. However, no way would I chose instead of.

I don't think it's a fair comparison anyhow; how can you compare something as exclusive, beautiful and special as an Aston Martin Vanquish with something as plain and boring as an Audi?

My mate has an RS6. His a 2015 or 2016 I can't remember. I'm not sure if that is the same as the one suggested by the OP as I'm not up to speed on different A6 variants. I've never seen it in the flesh as he lives 500 miles form me now. He says it's fast and I believe him. We all now they're very quick and very capable cars. He needs the size as he has 3 kids now, and a wife obviously and also a dog. But he doesn't have a fun car he just has the RS6. He talks all the time about getting a Porsche - all my friends know I'm a Porsche fan boy - but he never does. So what's the point, I'm not sure I need to make one. RS6 is impressive yes. Does it have the breadth or depth to it that will keep you interested or is it just a very fast big car.
