Personally the 8 spd is the way to go if you have the extra pennies
1. It's more in demand and resales so much easier
2. Fuel economy is greatly improved when cruising
3. It makes for a quicker car
4. ( maybe wrong here?) But I think they sharpened up the suspension geometry at the same time the 8 was introduced
The 6 isn't a bad car in any way but for the most part the 8 is better.
I'm sure some will disagree but most favour the 8 spd and main dealers will tell you there is stronger demand for the 8 despite it costing more

If using the paddles is important to your driving style, the 6 speed may be preferable since it lets you wind out the motor a little more between shifts. If you plan on leaving it in auto most of the time, then 8 speed may be the better choice. Do not buy an 8 instead of a 6 based on recommendations here, try them both, and in all modes: auto/paddles and normal/sport. Each of those 4 combinations result in different preferences with respect to 6 vs 8.
Just FYI mine is a May Built 2014 classed as a my 15 it has the 6 speed box. I find it excellent as I drive 90%of the time in manual. I have had f1 ferraris and an F1Maserati and to be honest prefer the zf particularly because of its reliability. The changes are fast enough I am ambivalent when it comes to the 8 speed considering I will never do 200 mph and the ratios are fine for country twisty blasts.
Don't forget though it's not just about the gear box
They also stiffened the dampers by 15% at the front and a whopping 35% at the rear, and 20% stiffer rear suspension bushings. Both brake booster and DSC stability system have been retuned, and the steering ECU has been revised, as has the torque tube to reduce transmission noise in the cabin.
The above was taken from a mag article at the time plus new bosch engine management was implemented.
So it was quite an overhaul though none of it cosmetic as it were given its all beneath the skin.
Both versions will readily put a smile on your face without question.
The point above all others is to make sure you don't pay 8spd money for a 6 spd car as some indy dealers often don't differentiate (probably not aware- or maybe trying it on) but it's easy to see two 15 plate cars up at similar prices yet one is the 6 spd and 1 is the 8.
Invariably savvy buyers will leave the 6 sitting for quite a while until it starts getting the price dropped before it will sell.
It's all part of one's due diligence to make sure you know what you are getting and that you are happy with the price.

On the topic of better MPG from the 8 speed. I drove my 2015 8 speed from Congleton, Cheshire to the Eurotunnel on Thursday with the cruise set at 70mph.
The car averaged 34.3 MPG.
After leaving Calais I set the cruise using my GPS making the most of the French speed limit tolerance, 140 on the clock for the most part.
By the time I arrived at my place in the Mayenne, it had averaged 29.4 MPG.
Even if you allow for a bit of discrepancy, that's a pretty good average in my book.

Thays pretty damned good in my book and was rhe most pleasant of surprises when I collected my Vanquish.
Just filled mine up in readiness for a run out tomorrow and it had averaged 15.8mpg over the previous 155 miles which was probably half urban and half fun driving which again is okay.
Got a trip down from Northumberland to Bedford autodrome ( freebie off BMW) in a few weeks and then a trip to loire region a few weeks after that and I'm looking forward to both as this car can do it supremely and won't cost the earth in fuel when cruising.
There can't be too many V12 cars that will give you 30mpg?

You’re gonna track the Vanquish at Bedford ? Interested to see how you get on I’m tempted by one as my next car to replace my 570s but I am partial to a few track days a year and at 400kg heavier than the Mcl that's alot of extra weight to consider.
