DB9 Volante Chassis Stiffening

Last year we replaced our jaguar F Type coupe with an older 2006 DB9 Volante (DBS lookalike) and although I love the DB9, compared with the F type it felt a bit floppy and soft, so I thought I would try and improve it.

The first stage would be stiffening the chassis, as the Volante is considerably less stiff than the DB9 coupe (15KN vs 27KN) so I purchased the later upgraded (2009 onwards and sports pack) front shear plate and the rear shear plate (from the DBS and 2013 onward DB9).
I then fitted both these to the car, with some minor modifications.

I also fitted a rear anti roll bar from a DB9 coupe (the Volante does not have the rear anti roll bar.

These modifications have transformed the feel of the Volante , much flatter, more pointy and a far more solid and less creaky feel to the car

I have some H&R db9 volante sports springs which have done about 2k miles if you want to stiffen it more.

My 2007 coupe has the sports pack, and I find the ride too hard. I'd much prefer normal suspension. So depending on where you are, and on somebody better at spanners than me to change the relevant bits, have that as an idea.

I wanted to stiffen the chassis, I.e. a more rigid chassis and less roll but not stiffer suspension. I think it possibly already had sports springs on it when I bought it as it sits pretty low already.

I don't want the stiffer suspension, just a stiffer, stronger chassiss to support the suspension and reduce the body flexing.

Also look into a rear anti roll bar. Volantes don’t have them as standard. This will make another big handling upgrade leap, for not a huge outlay.
