Hi All,

I’d be very grateful for some advice on a minor issue with my 2015 V8V. Bought from a dealer in Mar and at the time the roof cover / tonneau wouldn’t latch closed on it’s own when putting the roof down. The roof movement completes and the motor whirs but doesn’t seem able to engage the latch to shut. It will close with some firm manual pressure. When putting the roof back up there is no issues and the tonneaus latches closed fine.

I asked the dealer to fix before purchase and they sent it to a specialist who said that they thought the roof had got a bit swollen in the rain and so was taking up more space than it should. Recommended allowing the roof to dry out a bit. Seemed to make sense but the car has been parked in a garage and the roof is bone dry but the problem persists. I haven’t seen any similar issues in all the roof threads here so thought I’d see if anyone has come across this one before.

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Kind regards.

Don't mess with it. Don't even touch it. The dealer agreed to fix it and it's not fixed, so take it back to him and ask him to fix it, as he promised. If you do anything to try to fix it then whatever you do will be diagnosed as the reason the top won't stow properly and is stopping the tonneau from latching - so it's now your fault.

As for his "specialist" - automotive convertible top materials don't "swell when they're wet" so the tonneau doesn't close. I assume by "dealer" you mean a main Aston Martin franchised dealer?

Hi,

Many thanks for your advice - sounds wise!

The dealer is not an AM only dealer but they had the car looked at by AM-approved garage. I'm going to go back to them and ask them see what they can sort out.

Many thanks again.
