A quick servicing question

My 2007 DB9 was serviced every year by an AM main dealer from 2007 to July 2020, when it was on 12,782 miles.

In April 2021 it had a 'service' at a small independent dealer but there's no proper paperwork.

It's now on about 16,500 miles and I have the opportunity to get it serviced soon at an AM independent. If we discount last years' effort should I get it serviced now, either (a) because it physically needs it, and/or (b) because the resale price will suffer if not?

I understand it would be the 15 year service. Does that include anything special, and what should I expect to pay?

Some people prefer recognised independents to main dealers. I doubt if it will make any difference to the resale value whichever you choose and the cost of a service from an independent AM garage isn't much cheaper than from a main dealer. If you go to the Aston Works website they have a fixed price service menu.

I run a 2011 V12 Vantage and like you only cover 3-4K per annum, when I last discussed this issue with my local indie I came to the conclusion that as long as I do the regular checks I would only get it serviced at 18 month intervals. One of the reasons for my decision is the engine is lubricated with Mobil One which doesn’t break down like mineral oil no if I were running a certain German sports car the servicing intervals are likely to be 24 months!

Thanks for the replies; the car is currently with an independent having other work done so it seemed a good time to get it over with.

Quoted 5 year service for £780 inc VAT parts and labour. I was reckoning it might be up to £1K, and whilst it's still 3x the price of my usual garage, it is an Aston, so one has to stump up!


Maybe if I took the logo off I could get it for half price... 'What car is it sir?' 'Er, not sure, Ford or Volvo I think....'

Be sure you know what the service is going to include, menu servicing is all very well but you may find you are only getting an oil change while missing air filters, cabin filters and the like!

Apparently the only difference between a normal and 5-year service is a coolant change.
