Just called Aston engineering in Derby to book my 2007 V8V in for it's annual service and MOT. have used them since I got the car 3 years ago. They do a great job and charge fair prices. They also really know their stuff.

However I've been told today that they are so busy with the heritage stuff that they are not currently servicing 'modern' cars and don't know when the situation might change.

This is a real pity and a PITA to be honest. They are local (30mins away) and I trust them. Service and MOT due in just over 3 weeks.....

I had my V8V serviced there last month, but Dean said that they weren't taking on any new servicing work for a while.

They have suffered badly from staff absence due to Covid isolation and they have a backlog that they need to clear.

I reckon I got lucky - hopefully I won't need them again for a few more months, by which time they'll be back to normal(ish)

They're very good, that's for sure, but AM Nottingham is excellent too. I have used both and to be candid I have found Nottingham to be first class, even when sorting some tricky stuff.

I may well end up there as there is nowhere else 'local'.

Looks like it will be more expensive though. £695 for the 'basic' service is a lot for an oil and filter plus a check around the car!

There was a post on here from them to that effect but it appears to have disappeared. scratchchin
I usually have my MOT done locally after a service at Aston Engineering, I'm stretching my service internals a little so not overly concerned yet, and I've also had good experiences with Aston Nottingham, it just a little disappointing as I was hoping to build a relationship with them and have them 'get to know' the car.

Negotiate with them , ask them to price match what you’d pay at the indie , keep quiet about them not taking anymore work on though. Hi

I was in exactly the same position, asked on the forum for recommendations for an alternative. AM Performance in Macclesfield came well recommended. I've just had the service done there. Very satisfied and a reasonable price too.
Perhaps it's less local than Derby for you (it is for me!) but worth the trip over.

I know them well. The car came from that area (Prestbury) and was looked over them and serviced by them before I bought it.

Just a bit of a trek but might see if they could do it 'while I wait' so I don't have to make 2 journeys.
