iPod connector, how to turn it on?

So I have a new to me 07 vantage
In the cupholder there's a connector. It fits my old iPod touch. But no idea how to make it 'live' so music plays .. any ideas ??

My DB9 had something similar and it worked off a radio frequency.

Can you select the input on the dash ?? ( think you can chose aux , iPod etc , just under the fm/am switch )
