Hi there

My 2009 4.7 V8 Vantage manual, clutch has started to slip on 5th gear and above, car is on 35,000 miles, still drives fine if don't give it too much loud pedal in high gears, lower gears are fine.

Going to get a specialist to quote and do the job, but just wanted to have information in hand on roughly how much I should be paying and I assume it is best practice to replace flywheel whilst undertaking this job?

When my clutch failed at a much lower mileage, it was replaced by the twin clutch version (fitted on V12V).
I expect you know that labour time for clutch replacement is considerable, so having the upgraded clutch is not much more expensive.
Mine was done in conjunction with a service, so cannot remember the exact cost, but think £3,000 to £3,500.

The benefits are a much lighter clutch pedal and as the friction material in total is greater, the clutch life should be better.
One aspect to consider. If your car now has noticeable gear chatter (think almost all V8V have it to some extent), don't fit the lighter flywheel. Otherwise though, that is another good upgrade to help engine responsiveness.

Twin plate with lightened flywheel is the way to go. There is negligible cost difference between the standard and twin plate costs, the labour will be the same whichever you decide to go with.

Huge difference in feel and weight of clutch pedal.

Mine is with David Appleby now for a twin plate clutch £2,200 plus vat. That includes fitting. Pretty good, but a few things to bear in mind.

Seems like some clutch kits are in short supply. James has been waiting for months.

Depending on age and condition you may need or be advised to do more work.

Mine is a daily driver with 75,000. The rear subframe, which needs to come out, was shot. Off for a refurb. Oil pipes to the gear box rusted in , new set required and so on.

On the upside I’m not doubling up on labour and I’ll get her back good as new!
