I'm planning a nice round trip in August, starting in Caen and ending in Hamburg, taking in the south of France along the way. Now, I'm largely sorted for hotels and stuff, but I'd like some advice for a place to stop on the 22nd August - I will have left Lorient on the Atlantic coast that morning and need to be in Montpelier on the 23rd, so I'm looking for somewhere I can get to on the 22nd that's about midway between those points and which the drive to will be enjoyable.
Open budget, I'd just like something glorious, spectacular even (and of course Aston friendly/appropriate) - Does anyone have any recommendations?

Almost anywhere in the Dordogne, Limousin or Lot. Beaulieu, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, Perigieux are all charming. It's a while since I've been down that way but the roads are long, sweeping, free of potholes and have a wonderful tendency to have good food at both ends of them. I look forward to more informed answers and recommendations from others.

OT but I'm just back from Beaune and Epernay.

Used Waze and avoid motorways, the roads are incredible.

Was a joy to get back on the M20 furious

Have a great trip, Andy.

Hello from a fellow V12VS owner, mine’s a Roadster.
I live in the South of France and a good stop in Burgundy is https://www.domaine-rymska.com/ (I have no affiliation whatsoever with the hotel/restaurant).
I like to recommend it as it is a beautiful place, not huge, they have just a few bedrooms and the restaurant is great as everything you get served is homegrown in their farm located on site.
The Wagyu beef is the best I’ve ever had.
And, if you ask they will give you a guided tour of the farm.
Lovely place.
Have a great trip and if you ever make it to St Tropez, give me a shout!
Olivier
