AM Works Service - what's included?

My recently acquired 2006 Vantage is coming up for a service and I'm looking at sending it to Works (just within their free pickup and drop off catchment area.)

Little confused about their fixed price menu however.

It's on 57k and will probably opt for their 10 year 20k mile option, which apparently includes brake fluid and coolant. But beyond that what else do they do apart from oil and filter? Are air filters included? What else do they do for £895

Whats included or not is all detailed in your owners manual im a section towards the back.

Most things like air filters are optional at your discretion and cost.

Just check fixed price servicing actually applies too - I thought that only applied to later cars.

You should also consider getting the power steering and ASM fluids changed. They are often overlooked until it's too late.

Not a great deal is the short answer, I find the David Appleby menu to be the easiest to clearly see what is done and when but I have never actually used their services.

From this you should get pollen filters changed, which are actually Mazda parts and about £15, and take about 10 minutes to change.

Most of the value is in the checking of various things and the all important stamp.

When I was using main dealers to service my Vantage, I asked about the fixed price servicing, at the time it was first introduced.
Don't think my car was eligible, but the dealer seemed to suggest that there might be added chargeable items.

I eventually moved to the idie world. May not be cheaper, but there is a feeling of thoroughness. Works have very good reputation.

I believe the fixed price servicing for the V8 starts from 2003 models.
Air filter etal / plugs etc will not be included.
Depending on the rest of the cars history is your call as to whether £895 is warranted or not - I have only ever had new astons from Works so for me a no brainer but out of interest what would an Indy charge for the service equivalent ?

I used HWM this time round and found them really good.

Works did the last service. Hwm slightly cheaper and came to me as well.

The fixed price for the same service on the David Appleby link is just over £100 cheaper

The big plus for me is the pick up and drop off if your within 50 miles, very convenient, otherwise you have to get there , wait around etc

For me that’s the big advantage of Works, get mot , service done and they can pick it up and drop it back

Do HWM charge extra for the Home Service - I seem to recall it was £79 in the last advert I saw - but more importantly are they able to do everything that the at garage service is ignoring the MOT obviously.

Dont forget the video of the underneath of your car , priceless.

Mind you i paid 950 euros in 2016 for a oil & filter change at AM dealer in Italy , that was the last time the car went to a main dealer.

Notts AM Main dealer dont charge for pick up and delivery within Notts. Which is great for me as im in the NE corner virtually in Sth Yorks, so at least 80-90 mins each way depending on traffic. Their fixed price service has always been great, its only when you need additional work that the bill creeps up at main dealer labour rates.

I did try AM Works once when it was convenient and it was great to look around the place.

Another vote for HWM and there at home service , the tech Carrie’s out the exact same service you get at the garage , he has a fully equipped van with all the necessary tooling and diagnostics plus you can provide your own oil which saves a few quid

For those of us with AMs which hibernate during the winter, it can be quite 'fun/entertaining', to drive to a main dealer for an MoT, prior to the lay-up completing.

You do not require any road tax (still on SORN) and the dealer is stuck with only charging the standard price. -



( The wockey wingers and whiners group, might describe that in a different way.
Yet another example of how the stinking rich 1%, use loopholes, never pay any tax and leave the poor to pay.

Once back on the road, AM owners hand over £500 of their already taxed income, for road tax. )

My 2009 V12V manual service at AM Performance last year was quite a bit less than Works price but also included them swapping out the air and pollen filters (which I supplied myself) AND a transmission oil change. The service included the oil/filter, consumables and a brake fluid change plus they always grease up all suspension fasteners etc

Air filter pack of 2 was £132 on mine recently. They already had the shell and arch liner off so no additional labour, but you’d need to factor that in too, if you need them replaced

Thanks all for the above

I've got a set of OEM spec rear brembo discs/pads/handbrake pads also lying about - do you reckon they'd install them for me at Works while it's away for service with them, for an hours labour or whatever... or is that taking the mick?

I'd do it myself but for the peace of mind of not having a jacking accident and bending a sill/stuck caliper etc.....
