Seems odd to compare two cars when one's 50% more expensive than the other!

Definitely seems like and apple to oranges comparison. Not just price but so many factors. They must of had the two cars lying around and just needed to write about something.

It read to me as if they hadnt driven the corvette - so a fantasy review?

Ridiculous, because of all of the above posts.

given the choice of those 2 I'd take the Aston every time. Put a Challenger Widebody Redeye Demon or an ACR Viper instead of the Corvette there would probably be a different answer

Ref. price difference.

Having watched videos of the latest developments in car factories, the very extensive and increasing use of robot assembly is remarkable.
On some Mercedes-Benz assembly lines, the dashboard is carefully moved into the cars and then bolted into position entirely by robots. Not a human in sight.
The initial setup must obviously be expensive, but presumably huge cost savings are eventually achieved.
If Aston Martin built the Corvette, they could not sell it for the Chevrolet price and the cost gulf between hand built and robot built, must be widening.

I don't want a Corvette, but enjoyed watching them scrap with Aston Martins at Le Mans.

I don't think anyone has driven the full production version of the Z06 yet. It's going to have 670 hp though and is very much aimed at being the "track" Corvette. So not really a direct competitor for the Vantage.

I am looking at the move from Vantage to Z06 but the older models of each - 2006 Vantage to 2006 C6 Z06.

I agree its comparing apples with oranges. Very different cars.

Agreed. Especially when they admit they haven't driven the Z06 (and may not even have driven the Vantage). Deadtree clickbait?

I hate to say it, but the Corvette is better looking than the new Vantage. It really brings intro focus how awful the front of the Vantage is.

a good price for Amerikans, not for the Netherlands with their crazy high BPM on Co2 gr/km basis plus the 21% btw tax, could be doubling the price they pay in the US

Not saying much. Almost everything is better looking than the whale shark mouth of the Vantage.
