Carbon Fibre badges

I was contemplating some CF badges for my car, so started looking on google and unless I'm wrong they appear to be selling for between £1.6k to £2k each?! See below links, anyone know of a different supplier/source?

I can’t make up my mind if i like them or not tbh, but for that reason I have not bothered.

I really like them but would never spend that sort if money on a badge. I also use my car a lot which means it's often parked up unattended so the badges might walk off one day and that would upset me

Im not sure anyone buys the CF badges because they are lighter? I think its purely cosmetic.


As for the price, well we have people on here struggling to justify spending £30k on a car, and others freely dropping £330k on one, so its all a matter of perspective. Sure £3k on some CF badges is a lot to some people, but its like deciding if you want a £2 slice of cheese on your £15 burger for many others here.. i.e. not a major decision in life.

Some people end up with a badge which looks a little like carbon fibre, without spending £2,000.

Looks like a bit of corroded zinc to me. Ah'm oot.

I have them. They look great in person, the carbon fibers sparkle in the sunlight. Doesn't translate in a photograph.

They're an old design. Maybe Aston will put them in the clearance bin soon to make room for the "new and improved' version.

I had heard (although it might be apocryphal as I don't have direct knowledge) that at least part of the high cost of these badges is because the yield from the process is very low, with many being parts rejected and scrapped because the carbon fibre or its matrix hadn't filled in to the very fine raised lines that form the feather details, and there is no viable rework process.

Personal taste I know, and we all like something different but personally I think they look sh*t - sorry.

Many rejections during manufacture of the enamel badges too.

A tour of the factory, revealed numerous multi-stage individual processes, by different craftsmen and craftswomen.
At any point in those processes, microscopic faults result in the partly made badge being immediately scrapped.
They have to be perfect throughout every stage of manufacture.
The entire sequence is slow and very careful.
