Hi All,

Apologies if this topic has been covered before but i'm currently refreshing the brakes on my V8VS with new rotors, Porterfield pads and a fluid change and looking for some advice on options for replacing the larger front 380mm brake rotors on the V8VS and later V8V cars.

My current OEM rotors have a small lip but have not reached the minimum wear of 32mm, so i believe my options are:
1) Replace them with the very expensive OEM bell mounted Brembos, approx £2k for a pair.
2) Replace them with the co-cast OEM rotors fitted to the later V8V cars, approx £1.6k a pair.
3) Skimming and refinishing my lipped rotors, has anyone done this before and are there any pros/cons?
4) Aftermarket rotors, there's a company on eBay called RB Racing that make their own floating bell mounted rotors for approx £900 a pair. Has anyone used them and how do they compare to the OEM brembos?

Many thanks in advance

I fit the RB racing rotors discs earlier this year to my 4.7, also went for Porterfield R4S pads. I believe RB are using brembo discs with custom bells the have made up to suit the application. By the time I bought a pad fitting kit/bolts etc approx £1500 to do the job, so less than half of what the dealer charges.

After a bedding in session the brakes feel great, more feel than OE Pagid pads and virtually zero dust. I will go back to RB Racing Rotors again when my rear discs need doing.

I’ve also used RB Rotors on my 4.3 V8V. I opted for an upgrade from 355mm to 380mm purely on aesthetic grounds.

Total bill was about £1150 for the discs and another £250 or so for the Porterfield pads from DAE

Not done a lot of miles on them, but they feel way better than what went before

Many thanks for your responses, will go ahead and order a set of the RB racing rotors.

Any advice when it comes to bedding them in?

Thanks

Porterfield say for street compound pads just drive normally, no special procedure.
