PPF - how easy is it?

I ask because the section on the lower front is showing a lot of scuffs. It would be nice to remove it and fit a new piece - but I can't find the correct piece online, and also wonder if it's a DIY job or best left to an expert.

I put Armourfend on a TVR without issues, but have never tried removing it. Is it as easy as waving a hot air gun over it and pulling?

It can be a right pain and something I’ve only done a couple of times. Big pieces will take the skin off your fingers….

If you do have a go, heat up with a hair dryer first and pull towards you and up, don’t pull away from the direction you’re lifting from. Get some tar and glue remover too.

Thanks Paddy. How much would a pro ask for this, and could a dealer do it or does it require a PPF expert?

My 2c worth. I have had my roof PPF'd and replaced the PPF when the roof was replaced under warranty. The risk you take removing PPF if not experienced is that you may peel off some of your paint. My PPF guy uses a steamer to heat the PPF for removal and even then he peeled a bit of clear off luckily it was on the roof that was being replaced (carbon roof with a manufacturing fault.).
I would recommend letting an expert do the work. What's the cost, a few hundred pounds, its most likely less than having to rectify some damaged paint. As for templates most PPF people have the whole set available.

Take it to an expert, but for ease and less risk. There is always a risk of removing paint when taking off ppf, but if you have someone that does it all the time, the risk is reduced.

Thanks all, I'll make some enquiries on Monday. I think the bodywork underneath could do with some fettling and a bit of paint too, while I'm at it.
