These groups have been encouraged from the beginning, by the law (un)enforcement authorities.
Blocking motorways - politicians said we need to change the law.
No you don't - it is illegal for pedestrians to use motorways. Always has been.
The police seemed not to know about that, did nothing for about 2 hours. They were recorded saying, it is very hot, would you like some water?
The protestors must have thought, after they were let out of court with 'slapped wrists', we can get away with anything now and so they just carried on.
Recently a senior police lady was recorded at yet another protest saying, "Do you have any questions, can I fetch you a coffee?
Even Sergeant Wilson in Dad's Army, was not that weak.

This law enforcement is getting all too much. Fortunately the prosecution targets can be met now by the automatic speed cameras.

I think the problem nowadays is that the Police want to pick and choose what Laws they uphold and the examples are literally endless .They even have a name for it , its called Priority Policing . I found this out up here in Milton Keynes when one of my Vans were stolen . 4 months have now passed without either acknowledgement or visit from any Police Officer . In a fit of anger I stopped two turnips driving a Patrol car to ask whether they had recovered my stolen vehicle as I had heard absolutely nothing since reporting the theft . " Thats because its not a Priority to Thames Valley Police " was the reply . When I asked what their Priorities were , I was told Domestic Violence and Hate Crimes against Minorities . This sadly is the England we now live in .
I hear today that the government are considering new laws to deal with these kind of protests.
This shows what is wrong with the current system. Laws to deal with this have been in place for many decades. The police just need to grow some balls and enforce them. Same for the CPS.
Where I live there are groups of mainly women who think it is ok to deflate the tyres of SUVs.
They all need to be locked up.
