Hi all, a few weeks back I was putting my Rapide (2011) away and the check engine light came on, emissions warning etc, read the codes and it had loads related to circuit B throttle body, mismatch, position and stuck position along with resulting power limiting codes.

I pulled and stripped the throttle bodies, cleaned generally, including taking the covers off, inspected, cleaned the position board and contacts, refitted and all good.

Maybe 2k miles since and it did the same on Saturday, all cleared with power off and restart and it then drove perfectly.

This morning I drove 75 miles, then 75 back this evening it drove perfectly. Stopped for 10 mins at the in laws, then set off again, about a 1/4 mile down the road I got the engine light, emission warning and a noticeable misfire. Immediately read the codes and it had three, random misfires and misfire cylinder 2 and misfire 3. I read misfire counts and 2&3 were around 1k counts.
Switched off and restarted and all good, drove 8 miles home and again perfect, no codes and nothing of any concern on misfire counts. (It's had new new coils and plugs etc)

I know the batteries dying can create all sorts of randomness, the one on is around two years old BUT when I started it just before the fault tonight i did notice it cranked slower than normal.

Any thoughts or experience?

Do you keep it on a battery conditioner - Ctek or similar? That can certainly prolong the life of a battery and stop this kind of thing
It's also worth checking that the terminals are tight.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check the terminals, that would be a quick fix!

Is my daily driver so shouldn't really need a battery conditioner it does anywhere between 200-500 miles a week.

I did some investigations.....

In checking the outputs for the throttle pedal position sensors, I heard a loud clicking from the engine area when the pedal was gently pressed, released, pressed, released and so on.

With the assistance of my 10 year old daughter I tracked the noise down to the throttle body for bank two. Both TB make a high pitched buzz when activated which I'm familiar with, however, when the accelerator is slowly pushed bank 1 TB sounds smooth through its range, bank 2 TB on the other hand sounds horrendous generally. Like the gears are full of grit, which I know they aren't as I had it open previously per my first post, then theres the clicking which can be felt on the body.

I'm guessing this is the issue, I'm going to order two and replace both and will report back.
