is my garage wide enough? help!
Discussion
I can get my V8V in my single garage - 2,350mm wide. I have about 50-75mm on each side against the door frame and once inside, I JUST about have enough space to get out of the car - easier with the window down.
I use a steel bar bolted to the floor on the passenger side to guide the car in - if the tyres are touching the bar, I have about 20mm of clearance on that side, so I don't have to worry about scrapes.

Unable to help you at present, but you might be able to estimate fairly accurately, by proportionate use of a ruler on this photograph
OP, you'll buy the car anyway so the question is immaterial

I'm sure this has been covered before, but if all else fails there's things like these

I posted it on here a few years ago after seeing their display at The Classic Car Show at Excel. I asked if anyone had one fitted, and I’m pretty sure no one replied. I guess most people on here have the luxury of a double garage……

It’s a nice bit of kit, but it’s not cheap, and as far as I know it has to be anchored to a concrete or similar type of floor.
My garage is pretty narrow, and it’s integral so there is no scope to widen it. It’s tight but after plenty of practice I can do it easily now, and there is just enough room to squeeze my fat a
e in and out.To the OP, the doors closed are roughly 1300mm in length. You can see from Jons picture that they don’t open fully to ninety degrees, and they lift slightly with the swan effect due to the gas struts. So I guess the absolute worse case scenario is 1865 + (2 x 1300) which equates to 4465 (which funnily enough is only very slightly more than how long the car is too!).
I’m sure if you pop along to your local friendly AM dealer, they would be than happy for you to take some measurements if they have an older model on display. In my experience they are happy for a test drive to include a “garage test” too. Good luck.
Best Regards

This is exactly what I did, salesman drove it in my garage and there was no way he was getting out, and he was a small chap, I subsequently put the house up for sale, bought a house with a bigger garage and then bought a Vantage, funnily enough from the same salesman that did the garage test.

Think you might be offering my brain a challenge, John.
Base of windscreen 3".
Add a little for wheel arches 3.25".
One door open fully 4.25".
Car stated width 74".
Photo at windscreen is therefore 1" to real car 22.75".
Therefore one door fully open = 102".
With two doors fully open = 136".
Need to wait for someone to measure, then we can see whether my suggested method is close.

You spotted my finance topic today.
Wise words from you.
Some did not like the topic title (by quoting a radio caller), but didn't suggest any alternatives.
The main point of my post, was wondering whether 10 years of (about) 1% mortgages, might have made younger people think that 1% might always be normal. Such a long time, so quite understandable of course.
I was surprised how many posts there were this morning.
My own house has been a home for a long time. As there will never be any need to sell, the value or profiting from rising prices, is therefore meaningless and of no benefit to me.
Home owners talking about property values (frequently ignoring inflation) seems to be an odd obsession, except I suppose for active property speculators, or 'downsizers'.

That uses the windscreen base for scaling. If the rear edges of the doors were the same distance from the camera as the windscreen you'd be right. But they're further away, so the actual width will be less. Or possibly more. Anyway, it's different Base of windscreen 3".

You don't want me to measure, because you won't believe me, if I say with one door open = 102 inches. -

Just tried to measure it, bit tricky in the garage and guessing where it’s actually the widest, but I think the open door is about 30” max from the side of the car.
So that would make it 103.5” with one door open so 133.5” with both….give or take a inch

Thank you Steve, for measuring.
Do I get a prize John?
Accurate to within 1½ inches. Wow what skill with photo, ruler and calculator, or it might have just been luck. -

You win the 'I didn't know that the further away an object is, the smaller it looks' prize Accurate to within 1½ inches. Wow what skill with photo, ruler and calculator, or it might have just been luck. -

Don't come running to me when the OP knocks 1.5" off his Vantage's door

Thank you John, I am overwhelmed to receive such an accolade.
I would like begin my acceptance speech by thanking a long list of everyone who has .............
....... I feel a slight fraud in being awarded this prize, because my calculation included a perspective adjustment and when Steve established the exact measurement, the result was qualified by, 'give or take an inch', so my figure might be even closer (or further away).

Ah well then you're DQd for not giving your 'workings out'...!You will need: Distance from car, focal length of lens, distance from door rear edge to windscreen when viewed from the side (you'll need another perspective calculation for that) and more trigonometry than I can remember. In fact I'd draw it out on a bit of paper...
Or build a mock-up garage and see if the b
d will fit...All things considered it's not unlike CGT calcs...

Haha, that’s a great story. Going above and beyond really does have reward sometimes.
