Since the vantage borrowed many of its parts from other manufacturers, does anyone know if the ODB2 system was borrowed from another manufacturer or was it developed in-house?

Most of the shared parts were inside the Ford PAG group at the time.

I believe the 1st Gen VH Gaydon platform was a Ford/Volvo system using Ford ECU's.

In 2012 AM started using a Bosch system for the V12 engines. 2015 for the Vanquish.

The ODB2 system uses standard codes, although you need a special reader for the secondary bank.

I can send you a pdf for the AM guide for ODB2 codes for all early VH cars.

'Aston Martin' is often not listed on an obd reader. My 2007 V8V responds if I tell the reader it is a Jaguar.
