Anyone have experience on tyres for Aston Martin DB9. Stick with the recommendation in the manual or something better?

I have a Vanquish, like lots of other Aston owners, I have Michelin PS4S on it. The difference is night and day.
I had the same on my modified Jag XFR. I thoroughly recommend them.

100% Pilot Sport 4s

It is the biggest improvement you can make to the Vantage

Do they have a more comfortable ride?

Something I found strange is the rear tyres are a lower profile than the front. Do you stick to the original size?

That is normal with staggered tyres. The rears will be wider, but the sidewall height will normally work out the same front and rear.
Stick to what the tyre label on the car says (usually driver’s door ‘B-pillar’ or maybe inside the fuel filler cap).

The profile is measured (and displayed) as a percentage of the width.

No real advantage in changing sizes if you're sticking with the original wheels.

As for ride, I didn't notice anything other than improved handling/traction.

Agree with the advice going for the P4S however, I did notice they were slightly more noisy ... Only marginal though.
This was on my V8V.

another +1 for the Michelin PS4S.

I put them on my V8 Vantage and DB11. I can’t say I noticed additional noise, but they are way better than the OE Bridgestones in terms of feel and grip. Very confidence inspiring.

I went with the new Bridgestone Potenza Sport on my vantage. They give better feel than the Michelin 4s and are a newer generation of design. Compared to the original Bridgestones they are more comfortable, much more communicative, better grip in every condition and steering feel is much nicer. I believe the only downside is that they wear more quickly than the 4s but that doesn’t concern me as I don’t commute in this car.

Morning all,
Reviving this thread as it's a few years old.

Any updates on tyres for a DB9 please?

Goodyear Eagle F1 any good?

Conti Sport Contact 7 if available or Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tend to be the tyres of choice. Couldn't get the SP7 in Rapide S size so went with the PS4S.

Depends on prevailing weather in your location and your driving style which tyre will suit you best.

Have a look at Tyre Reviews channel on YouTube.

Thanks Skyebear,

I'm in Manchester, so often wet!

I'll look up youtube reviews, as I hadn't thought of that

No problem.

The guy who does TyreReviews seems very thorough and unbiased.

I could only get Conti SP7 if I bought 21" AMR wheels which seemed a bit much. The Michelins have eliminated the wheelspin and instability under braking.

Should you change all tyres it would be a good moment to get four wheel geometry done too.
