Back order parts - AM are useless
Discussion
Car (4.7 V8V) was recovered to AM Birmingham on 29th Jan due to complete electrical shutdown
Diagnosed on 30th Jan as underbonnet fusebox failure and part ordered - under warranty so all costs covered
15th Feb - still zero sign of fusebox arriving, car in compound at AM Birmingham with no due date on parts - apparently due to semi-conductor shortage
Thank god I have a TVR where when parts fail you can actually source replacements - not blaming the dealer here but AM as a company really are useless

I think that is a little unfair in honesty. No manufacturer will necessarily hold every part possible in stock just in case, combine that with the current climate it makes even less sense IMO to hold on to stock which simply may not get used and takes up space.
Additionally as much as it is frustrating some bmw owners with the egr cooler recalls lost their cars for 6 months if not longer owing to parts just not being available.
On a more personal level, some parts I have ordered even from bmw previously have not turned up for the best part of a month.

Will agree to disagree on that one, its not exactly an uncommon part, shared with the DB9 and zero indication on when they will be able to supply one - in this day and age that is not acceptable, not to me anyway Andy665 said:

Well go moan at Gaydon's door then. But a small, British manufacturer is exactly that, it may play second fiddle to one of the larger players needing more units. Having read your own profile one might expect some level of understanding, but clearly not.

No just providing a different opinion and a reality check, not everyone has to agree with your viewpoint.
As stated, ZERO indication of when part will even be available after 2 1/2 weeks - dealer cannot get any indication from the manufacturer. I was advised initially that as car reported as VOR that it may push request up the list and was told that AM parts system was showing as stock expected 20th FebLast week all stock due indications on this part removed from dealers o/s parts system - dealer has asked for an update and not been responded to - in this day and age a manufacturer not even responding to dealers who in turn can respond and update customers is poor practice. It could be argued that a small manufacturer should find updating their dealers rather easier than a large one does and that there should be greater awareness / understanding of customer experience
Not one of the manufacturers I deal with would consider this to be acceptable business practice - dealer is keeping me informed as best they can and have no issue with them at all, neither am I the only customer that has their car stranded there with the same issue

Over the zero indication bit frustrating, but I have ordered parts in similar situations and not been updated. Granted the car was not stranded mind. A hunch might be that depending where it is sourced even AM don't know, and being they dont know they dont want to make false promises. That being said I agree over them not responding to the dealer to even say we dont know, but that is quite different from the original post and was not included.

I think we need to be prepared that since they no longer produce the VH Aston's. We may all eventually be up a creek when it comes to needing parts. I know there is thread on here with engine parts no longer being available. What year 4.7 is it?
2009 per chance?
Unfortunately, if so, you are in the same boat as I am. The Under-bonnet Fusebox for this year of 4.7 Vantage was only used for 1 year. Hence very little stock was held and when the reorder went in Covid / Ukraine and everything else had kicked off.
The Fusebox comes from the same supplier as the Under-bonnet ones from other years. They literally cannot get the components currently.
I've had one on order since November.

What causes an under bonnet fuse box to fail?? Water ingress ? Seems a few cars are off the road because of this,,,,
Ps - echo that other manufacturers can have basic supply issues e.g family members mini off the road awaiting a pet for 2 weeks now… And, parts on old models becoming more difficult to source: Porsche 996T steering racks not made anymore…OPC had to source second hand and refurb (and that was a few years back…)

Its a 2010.5 car. Situation now made more frustrating by the fact that a well known AM specialist has contacted as a result of this thread saying that they have fuseboxes on the shelf ready to go - I cannot / will not go down that route because the repair is covered under warranty and I'm not prepared to shell out on a fusebox and fitting elsewhere.2009 per chance?

At least we now know there are a few spares available.
Does the wording of your warranty contract, state only main dealers can do repair work covered by the warranty ?

Why not ask your dealer to purchase it from the specialist and fit for you?Andy665 said:

Yep, 8D33-14A173-AB. The exact one I'm after also. Only fitted to MY09 and MY10 Vantages.

Sympathies - different tale completely but I had an un driveable Audi R8 ( 5 months old ) with a puncture needing a new tyre and Michelin nor the Dealer nor Audi UK could supply /source one. After a month Audi agreed to pay for 3 brand new alternatives if I paid for one.Diagnosed on 30th Jan as underbonnet fusebox failure and part ordered - under warranty so all costs covered
