Hi all

Car that I have recently purchased is up on axel stands. After removing the front and rear undertrays i have noticed the ASM lines look quite perished although they are dry and not leaking. (Yet anyway)

What hoses do you guys recommend? Revised versions that the like of DAE advertise, unsure if Bamford rose sell there own aswell or use OEM?

Is this something I could do myself, or would you advise getting it done by a specialist? Are there any tutorials on replacing telhem.

I also noted that the rear subframe has corrosion. I was thinking of cleaning it up and coating with acf50 for now, but long term I presume this will need stripping down and re powder coating. Any recommendations on someone to carry this out and a rough cost?

Thanks

Tom

Cant advise on the lines but with regard to the subframe, most indie garages will do this for you obviously sending the offending item out for refurbishment but also, ECPS in Poland were advertising a fully refurbished subframe on their eBay shop.

If you are good with the tools and have the space and time to remove it yourself then a reputable and presumably local powder coating place will be more than capable of carrying out the work.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have a friend that does powder coating so could take it to him providing I can find the time to get it removed.

I had my ASM lines done a couple of years ago (V12VSR with SportshiftIII).
The original equipment ones are a known weak point, I had them replaced by DAE ones which are much stronger. My dealer fitted them while the car was in for its annual service.

Ok thanks for the reply. Maybe I’ll order a set from DAE

Another vote for the DAE replacements, I had them fitted when my original perished lines needed replacing.

Thanks have any of you guys replaced these yourself? The longer hose seems a bit hard to access the opposite end to the reservoir Is it a case if removing the lines, draining the ASM fluid from the reservoir, re installing the lines and re filling the reservoir with fluid?

I am really not sure what level of experience you need to change these. Official time required by MD’s is 6 hours. AM Bristol managed it a little quicker when they did mine last week under warranty (see https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... )

Apparently, the ‘box needed dropping to get the lines refitted. I’ve heard one person say it may be possible with the ‘box left in situ, but not sure if that means Heath Robinson tools and bloody knuckles.

I don’t know if AM Bristol fitted the DAE ones or OEM ones, or if they have been improved since production. My car is a 2018, and the pipes weren’t leaking but we’re cracking.

I didn't do mine myself, was tempted but I think they need plugging in to purge the lines when the new ones fitted? I had mine done by AJ Tech in Devon and they'd done it plenty of times.
