Door Window Problem

Hi all,

I have a 2010 Aston Martin DBS and the passenger door window has stopped operating. This means that the door will not close properly. I have tried to resolve this by taking out the relevant fuse and replacing it, but this has not sorted out the problem. Any ideas as to what else I should try?

How can I close the door, without breaking the window, so that I can drive it to a dealer to look at it?

If the window is not moving then you could have a larger issue, but this window reset process works in a 2007 Vantage, and is simple so probably worth a shot...


Sit in the car. Turn the ignition (not the motor) on. Push on the driver`s window button until the window is fully down and leave your finger on the button for about 5 seconds.
Pull on the driver`s window button until the window is fully up, and keep pressure on the button for 5 seconds.
That`s it!
As you are holding the button for the 5 seconds, after 2-3 seconds you should hear a little noise, almost a buzz, which is the system "relearning" where it is supposed to be.

If that didn't work and removing the fuse didn't work then it seems that you will need a new door module or two new door modules as they updated the door modules and they have to be replaced in pair.

In the event that they do not work, is there any way simply to be able to close the door so that I can drive the car to the dealer for repair?

Put microfibre cloths on the glass (so as not to scratch the chrome trim) and push.

It didn't on my DB9 (after the garage let the battery go a bit flat so the window lost its marbles and they shut the door without noticing the glass was over the rubber). But I don't recommend it; it must put a nasty strain on things.

How about having the door on the latch for your trip?

Using a thin sheet of rigid plastic, it should be possible to ease the glass under the gutter. Bear in mind that the garage will need to open the door if they need to get behind the door card - and will likely not be too gentle.
