2009 volvo satnav in my 2009 Vantage
Discussion
Sorry guys if this has been posted already but I cant see a search function within the Aston Martin forum.
I have found a guy in scotland who has sent me the upgrade dvds for the satnav but the CD player in the car wont recognize them. In the handbook it says the car comes with a dvd player specifically for the satnav. but I have searched the whole car and cant find it. Have any of you upgraded the current system. I see some have replaced the system completely.
Also while I am asking, if the car loses its battery power, how do you open the car. I travel a lot so it may happen to me at some point. I carry a battery booster but I still need to get into the car in the first place.

No, the CD player is not the correct slot.I don't have practical experience of upgrading, but in the boot (nearside I think) is the satnav disk drive.
Hopefully everything should work by using that.
To unlock your car when the battery is flat, you should have been given a traditional shape metal key.
Key slot being near the drivers door handle.
Whether the alarm sounds when the door opens I don't know, but we have seen many posts on here, about owners having nightmare situations with failing batteries.
2009 age cars are probably close to having tracker battery failure. I think that then results in increased drain on the main car battery.
At least we can hide the screen if desired (unlike present cars). IT moves so fast, that even with the software upgrade, the system still remains a quaint historic novelty. The phones in our pocket are of course the most up to date navigation systems, with live traffic jam information too.

As far as I know the 2009 SatNav module is in the same place as mine, assuming you have a Coupe - for Roadster I have no ideaI have found a guy in scotland who has sent me the upgrade dvds for the satnav but the CD player in the car wont recognize them. The Coupe SatNav is behind the trim on the LH side of the boot. If you look up and forward, right up by the LH boot light, you should see a leather tab. If you pull that you can carefully wiggle a door open, past the boot light, and the SatNav unit should be behind there. The DVD slot and eject button should be obvious.
To get into a car with a flat battery you need the metal emergency key. This fits into the lock hidden behind the exterior door handle - you unlock the car, gently force the glass past the chrome trim, ignore the alarm going mad (because it should be) and put your ECU into the ignition key slot to shut the alarm up. You can then open the bonnet to access the jump points, or lift the rear board to access the battery.

What does the manual say ?
Says use the dvd provided, doesn't mention where it is. Advises to speak to your local AM dealerSir Miles Long said:
I have a 2007 vantage v8. I updated my sat/nav with a Volvo disc. If I remember correctly the newest update was 2013 or 2015. Got them off of eBay. Hope this helps.
I got an updated DVD for £30 from a gentleman on the internet. 2015 I think. Works fine, and adds postcode f u n c t i o n (which amazingly the early versions don't have). Figuring out how to use it is of course another matter on the abacus-type screen with its seemingly reverse Polish logic!Note - one word is spaced out because the forum doesn't like it!
