Sad news.
I liked the design appearance, better looking than the Valhalla.

Some accompanying text, including the usual 'creativity'.

Stroll says: 'DBX SUV, which he says now has a 25 percent share of the luxury high-performance SUV segment, and sales of which were up 40 percent in the first quarter of this year.'

Article says: 'too costly for a company that had lost the equivalent of $140 million—before tax—in the first three months of 2022.'

If they are both right, then to have sales of a key product go up 40% but still lose $140M is going down faster than the Titanic... something has to snap eventually...

Who else is in luxury high end performance suv segment?

Bentley, Rolls Royce, for sure, does he consider Ferrari and Lamborghini to be there or is he excluding them for convenience?
If he is excluding them, which i suspect is so, that suggests they are 3rd on the podium … doesn’t read quite so well when you paint it that way does it? (Or maybe I have it back to from and it’s Lamborghini & Ferrari and Bentley and Rolls Royce are hyper luxury suvs? All this micro segmentation drives me to distraction - all so you can say you are in the top 3 of a segment …..

I was at a hotel earlier today and a Lamborghini suv was parked outside and I have to say from the front (that’s all I could see as it was during a monsoon like rain event ) it looked great!

A company chief, offers two chocolate fingers to a hungry child.
Up 100% on the one finger yesterday.

Oh dear. The 100% increase is not quite as good as it seemed.

Such a shame, but hardly surprising as we've heard so little on it for a while now.

I am confused though about the DBX - I thought it was "Ultra Luxury High End" but now its only "Luxury High End". Have they lowered their sights a little wink

I wonder how much of this decision (aside from the obvious issue of actually funding what would be a brand new and radical AML platform) is linked to the lawsuit with Nebula and the deal Andy Palmer did where he granted them a premium on every mid-engined car in return for the funding of Valkyrie?

Could it be the petulance of a chief executive saying "fk those guys" when it looks like he might lose the case and so taking his mid-engined ball home?

'A new segment a day keeps the accountants away' says Mr Stroll. Well no actually I said that but it seems not too far-fetched. Invent your own segment and bingo, you're top in it!

I don't view Ferrari and Lambo as luxury cars. Luxury cars are quiet and comfortable - and that's RR and Bentley. I saw the inside of the RR Dawn on Top Gear recently and THAT is luxury - not carbon fibre. Carbon fibre is not luxury. 0-250mph in 5 secs is not luxury.

The wonderful thing about marketing is that you can just invent stuff. The poor bds who actually have to make it come lumbering along a few years later, if at all.
