2024 V8 Vantage on the road
Discussion
Obviously not a new car, but it seems they've fixed most of the exterior design flaws.

Interesting - never knew the vantage had cross over type wipers - ie swipe towards the left and right hand side pillars
I think if you look at the link to the ‘more pictures’ its clear the grille is still bigger than shown as it seems there are plates covering the far ends of it, so i will hold my opinion until the full reveal, but certainly looks a bit more traditional - side strakes still absent also.

It looks to me like it’s going to follow a similar pattern to DB12. My MD confirmed to me a couple of weeks ago that a lot of the changes coming up in DB12 will be carried over to new new Vantage. On that basis, I’m expecting the most significant changes will be to the front end and to the interior. It wouldn’t surprise me if the interiors on both cars end up very similar, which is somewhat different to current DB11 v current new Vantage. It looks like the rear end on both of the new cars will remain pretty much as it is, except for perhaps the “virtual spoiler” driven by the air tubes? I guess we will find out part one tomorrow. As for the wipers, DB11, DBSS and new Vantage all have them like that. I really don’t like them at all, on any car, as they always look awkward and out of sync to me when they are operating. No idea why AML chose that system but I guess there must have been a reason.

I see this very car on the roads a lot as their test routes are on my journey to work - to me it looks better in the flesh (even in the camo scheme) that the pics convey. But then, I like the current Vantage and own a VH era 4.7, so tweaking it with what, to me, look like a few "VH" tweaks is always going to work well.
As I understand it the wiper layout gives a greater area of clearing on screens that are deep (i.e. almost square), where as the conventional layout works better in screens that are shallow (i.e. letterbox shape).
As for the pics above - well it definitely improves on the current design, but it is hardly an all new car. Most manufacturers would simply call this a facelift of the existing model.
It would of course make total sense for all the interior of the DB12 to be carried into the new Vantage, which also bodes well as from what we've seen so far it looks like a very positive step. We'll know for sure later this week I guess.

Packaging. Not enough room on the original V12 DB11 to get a pantograph system in. Plus finding a supplier who wanted to develop a wiper system for a few thousand units per year.Minglar said:

If you like the sporty wiper look, how about just one central wiper ?
AML could have used their technical agreement, to nick it from Mercedes-Benz.
You may say, that won't sweep the whole screen.
Although not noticeable when driving, but the clever mechanism pushes the arm outwards for each side portion of the windscreen.
You may say that complexity won't last long.
Fresh grease for the gearing mechanism after 15 years. Still working perfectly at age 23.
Edit:
No need for change RHD or LHD. The single wiper is mounted centrally, so does both.

Also, I guess it saves the costs of making left sweeping vs right sweeping mechanisms and tooling for LHD and RHD cars. WantSagaris said:
Considering this will have (I assume) the same engine in a different state of tune to the 12, and if the interior is essentially the same, why would you get the 12?
They are actually quite different in DB11 and Vantage. For a start the Vantage is quite a lot shorter, I presume for the facelift the DB12 won't gain the ediff of the current Vantage (and the facelift will keep it). The ediff is from the Gallardo basically (manual aside). The mounting of said diff is also solidly mounted unlike DB11 or DBS and I somewhat doubt that will change for DB12 and facelift Vantage.
It all begins to make for quite a different car beyond the geo in use and other aspects.
I doubt the Vantage will gain the standard fit carbon ceramics the DB12 will.
Additionally, given the opportunity to discuss certain aspects of the current range with a former Gaydon electronics guy then some might be surprised to learn the current Vantage was going to be quite a bit more different in certain aspects, such as a DCT anyone...but whether AM will want to go that far lord knows.

There is actually no physical linkage between left and right just two motors which work independently of one another. Usually most cars have issues because people have not left them to settle long enough when aligning them meaning they hit the A pillar.

One is a 2 seat sports car and the other is a 2 plus 2 gt car
GTs are excellent for crossing continents."The four of us are driving to Monaco.
Expect it will take about 12 hours.
Good job we chose a 2 plus 2 GT car.
Now, who would like to travel in the back seats ?
You probably won't have any feeling in your lower body when we arrive, so I have arranged a booking with A&E in Monte Carlo.
If they decide on amputation, at least you should feel much more comfortable during our return journey."
