Yes but realised it is the key getting pressed in my pocket- it has very long range. Has never happened when I wasn’t within 50m of the car with the key in my pocket even if inside a building.

I’ve never had this with any other car I’ve ever had. My business partner experiences the exact same thing just wondering if it’s a DBX thing

Yes, happened within a few hours of ownership. Key was in my pocket, few friends were cleaning the car, and it popped open, caught the closed door of the garage, causing $4,000 plus of damage (repaint needed). Very strange as to open the tailgate you need to press and hold the button for a second or two, no way that could have happened by it being in my pocket. Without proof it was a malfunction we had to eat the costs. Also realized the key as a VERY long range. We can open the tailgate/trunk from the other side of the house, at least 35 meters away, through 4 walls! Also heard from sales assistant at another dealership that the same thing happened to him, he was moving the car, tailgate popped open, caused damage. We've come out once, and found the tailgate open. Hard to prove, never happened with any other car, but 97% certain there is an issue with the remote, over sensitive, and can occasionally pop itself open. But without replicating the "problem" we couldn't get the repaint covered by AM.

Mine popped open occasionally too.
Didn’t do it for a long while now.
Once it was open when parked unlocked under our carport (no damage as the carport has enough clearance for the tailgate to open).
I’m wondering if it’s not due to an over sensitive foot sensor as it happened also when cleaning the car.
Sometimes I’m praying the boot doesn’t open itself when parking underground or the rear end close to a wall as it could prove expensive like Ben experienced!

Both my DBX’s have done this. It’s the key shape, makes it so easy to accidentally open. I wish I could disable the boot open on the key tbh.

This happens to me a lot. Have the leather key case so not sure if that makes it worse.

I think having it in a trouser pocket seems to set it off. Trying to keep it in my hand or a jacket pocket. Poor design. I had a leather case for my DB11 key but haven’t got one yet for the DBX. I will avoid if it makes it worse.

Maybe a Venn diagram of people that wear tight trousers and people that have the random tailgate opening is required?

In my defence they weren’t tight when I bought them
! Clearly a consequence of too much time sitting in the Aston.

Go to your dealer, they can get AM to change the coding so that the boot needs 2 clicks to open.

Much less likely to accidently double click the button.

Confirmed this is possible. I had my new 707 delivered this week and asked for the key to be recoded to require a double click. Very useful thread - thanks all!
