DB9 Bodywork Corrosion
Discussion
Purchased a 2014 DB9 from a main AM dealer in October 2022, I have noticed the car has the usual AM corrosion on both the driver and passenger and around the boot hinge, I contacted the dealer and they have sent the photos to AM warranty only to be told they will not repair as the car is almost 10 years old. before this I had a 2011 DB9 which had bubbling around the drivers door, This was rejected because of the car at that point being 11 years even that it was a full AM history car with 18k on it.
My previous car a V8 Vantage had the same issues and was covered under the bodywork warranty even when this was 10 years old, hence my i purchased a car well under that this time around.
Seems really poor that it down to the owner to pay for this even that i have just purchased the car and it had been serviced with a bodywork check also stamped in the book.
I have contacted AM customer care and await reply. We all know its only AM that have this issue and its always the same places it happens in.
Anyone else had the same issue in the last year and if so what was the outcome with AM ?

Dunno if this helps but I bought a 2009 DB9V in 2013 with an AM warranty included in the sale price. I went to Chiltern's to have the car serviced and they managed to get the door mirror support repaired under the AM warranty. This was a while ago and I don't know if things have changed. But since you bought from a dealer, I would mention something like "it spoils the look of the cars and all my friends comment on this aspect of the car"
In honesty my new Vantage has some light microblistering and they have just rejected it, based solely on it being over 3 years old and not having paint warranty and also claiming microblistering will appear within the first year.
At the moment based on a few comments from Works a couple of things have come to light:
1) Any goodwill side of things rests on you having an extended warranty otherwise they won't give anything more than a contribution, where it has been serviced and looked after, how many cars you have/had, future potential purchases and how long you have been a customer.
2) They seem to be getting more prickly shall we say as in the same time frame the Bodyshop manager at Works informed me that DB11 had also been rejected for corrosion based on a stone chip when it clearly was not a stone chip.
3) Your dealer can lean on them to change it, but client services directly contacted by the customer tends to help change the outcome, you really need to flag how you have supported the brand more than anything.
Good luck, as I have contacted client services as well alongside Works and am waiting to hear back about any change in the result. It is simply unacceptable in 2023 in my view that AM still has corrosion and contamination issues in paint. Mine is only just over 3.5 year old, and rather oddly and the bit that goes against AM is that they approved a roof fix for a blister in March (within 24 hrs)! So what has changed and clearly the second point about microblisters was utter nonsense.
