But the submarine is still a go, right?
They seem to have made some motorbikes though: https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/new-bikes/asto...SSO was the first to spot the discontinued Vanquish project.
A few months ago, it was absent from a future model list, shown in an AML financial document.
Perhaps AML have become unnerved about selling mid-engine core models, after seeing the situation at McLaren.
If the 'push' for EVs means eventually every car on the road is electric, then the front-engine and mid-engine aspect becomes irrelevant.
Car body shape design will be free from the present limitations of engine location.

I saw something on a tech channel about a future battery tech that would allow the chassis and bodywork of the car to be the battery via some special type of construction. Only then would we be truly free from the front/mid layout issues.

What we need is a liquid battery material that you can pour into a mould, or into any odd-shaped corner, then it sets and you stick two wires into it.AdamV12V said:
Interesting, maybe to a point but the motors and batteries are heavy just like the engines were which was the key point about its location. Maybe now we will have front-battery or mid-battery layouts? Although given a battery these days can be any shape i suspect they tend to spread them out all over. ...
We remember the Lagonda EV concept and how it appeared able to use some of the (engineless) front bonnet section, as part of the interior. Absence of a B pillar and a rising roof section enabling easier entry and exit. Innovative
What is more difficult to remember though, was the promised debut in 2021 of the new electric ultra-premium Lagonda SUV.
One year earlier, we did have the debut of the new ICE ultra-luxury Aston Martin SUV.
( I am uncertain about which might be better, ultra-luxury or ultra premuim. )
I had forgotten about those semi gullwing doors on the Lagonda. For some reason I think this is still a worthy direction in an ev world, ie exec barge.
As per the other thread can AM survive in an ev world, i would argue the front engined sports car consolidation from 3 models to 2, makes room for a 4 seater EV that isn't another SUV.
Taycan anyone?
Rolls Royce and Bentley i guess have this market to themselves…. (Why do i keep lusting over the wraith ?)
Need more coffee - early morning ramble over lol
