Hi all

I have suddenly found myself back looking at V8 vantages after selling my old 2007 some years ago when my first child came along. He is now 6 and the wife has signed off on me having another sports car and I find myself looking at Vantage S'. The question I have is, can you put a child in the passenger seat? I have two kids (6 and 3) and I'd love to take them out on occasion so have a couple of questions.

1) Can you turn off the passenger airbag? I've tried to research this and some people say only on isofix cars and some people say they can on a standard non isofix cars. Given I am looking at later 2012-13 cars does this change anything?

2) I've seen one car for sale with the carbon bucket seats. Can you fit a car seat/booster to these or are they not suitable?

If anyone has got any info on fitting child seats/boosters then please let me know.

Thanks

Trev

Definitely no problem having kids in a child seat in the V8V. Mine have been in mine from the ages of 1-4.

I don’t have ISOFIX (so no airbag off switch), so was never able to fit a rear facing seat. I set the seat in the furthest back position. Currently using a Recaro Mako 2 Elite PRIME i-Size Group 2/3 with my 4 year old.

Buckets will be a more difficult fit but I believe that people have managed. I think a solution in this instance is the mifold portable seat: https://mifold.co.uk/ but worth considering what your appetite is for having them cocooned in a seat or not, given that cars with carbon seats won’t have side airbags.

Sounds similar to me. I used to own a 2007 vantage and sold when my first child came along. She is now 6 and I have recently purchased a 2013 vantage s with the lightweight carbon seats. I need to get some sort of car seat too. Will need something quite narrow for the lightweight seats.

According to the manual, my 2015 V8V with "Sports" seats does have a PADS. Isofix were optional, as they were only fitted on passenger seats without height adjust

Would be interested to know how you get on with child seat setup as your situation sounds exactly what I might be looking at. Congrats on the S, how does it compare to your previous vantage?

Another option would be to look at a Vanquish, DBS or DB9 which already has a pair child seats built in

I would love a vanquish but out of my budget. The DB9 does nothing for me in terms of looks, I think they just haven't aged as well as the vantage and I still think the Vantage is the best design from the VH era Aston's. Perfect proportions, elegant and just looks right from every angle.

Do you have the sports seats in your V12? Could you post a pic/details of the booster you use?

Mine is an early car (2007)

This is from the manual

Isofix is ONLY available on non hight adjustable passenger seats, the airbag must be switched off.

Vehicles with a height adjust passenger seat do not have ISOFIX bars. a tether anchor point or an airbag deactivation switch.
Aston Martin does not recommend the use of any child seats for this vehicle which require the use of the vehicle seat belt.
If a forward facing child seat is to be used, move the passenger seat to its rearmost and lowest position.

I will have a look tonight as it also did have a section for the carbon seats, but I think that was a "do not" rather than a "does not recommend"

I use a trunki booster when needed.

Thanks for the info, please do let me know if you spot anything related to the carbon seats as there is a car I'm potentially interested in with them. I'll ask the owner if he has the airbag switch or not.

I might have made it up. It's not there now rofl

I did a load of digging when I was looking, and I'm sure I found something that said no.

All it says is if you have adjustable seats, Aston Martin does not recommend fitting a child seat, but if you do, lower the height and move the seat as far back as possible.

A booster easily fits the standard seats.

I love the Vantage S, completely different car to my old 4.3 vantage, although I have only driven it twice 😂 Has been in my garage in pieces since feb. Removed the rear sub frame and all associated bits. Had that galvanised and powder coated, vapour blasted all suspension components, camadium plated all nuts and bolts, new pads and discs all round, replaced the asm hoses whilst apart and had new helical valves installed in the exhaust etc etc. It’s in having a 4 wheel alignment/geo today. Hopeful we get some nice weather so I can use it for a bit before I get the paintwork done over the winter months so it’s all ready for next spring/summer.

Agreed I love the look of the vantage out of the VH era cars, although if my budget would allow, i would love a vanquish one day.

I will let you know how I get on with the car seat situ.
