On another thread it was mentioned that the pipes rub against each other and wear a hole. One replacement pipe was quoted at £400. The location was very helpfully given by DNH89, and I checked mine. Sure enough, the pipes were in contact and a witness mark showed a small depression caused by rubbing. The location is on the drivers (UK) side of the radiator, about 100mm down, where the two aluminium pipes to the condenser cross over. My solution was to undo the adjacent pipe clamps, whereupon the pipes moved slightly apart to their natural position. Follow the pipes to the clamps, respectively on the inner wing and on the cross beam. 3-4 mm of washers under each clamp were sufficient to let the pipes sit apart by 1-2mm, and thus avoid contact. You will need to remove the bonnet landing panel for access.

Timely post. Just replaced my AC condenser and forgot to check this. Will take a look.

Cheers

Sadly not limited to V8 versions - had to replace (actually price was ridiculous so had aluminium pipe repaired successfully by AC contractor) and re route the pipe in my V12 at 40,000km as it had worn through at one point
