Thoughts on this 4.7 Vantage with N430 replica work
Discussion
Constantly looking at V8 vantages these days and this popped up, not normally a fan of replica type things but I quite like this
anyone have any knowledge, experience, advice in relation to this car?

Even the number plate is fake… at best it just doesn’t make sense. anyone have any knowledge, experience, advice in relation to this car?

It will always be a 4.7 with a bodykit. Im looking on a trade auction and a white 4.7 420 is guide at lower than this.
In my eyes if you want a 420 buy a 420, if you don’t, buy what you want and don't pay a premium for something you are not that bothered about (heart versus head and all that!)

^^^ this. Just buy an S. A higher spec car than both N420 and N430, and loads about. In my eyes if you want a 420 buy a 420, if you don’t, buy what you want and don't pay a premium for something you are not that bothered about (heart versus head and all that!)

Not sure why prices are shown in USD, which also applies to all the other cars listed as sold by the seller.
Cannot believe the N430 visual changes really cost £18,000.
Wheels are standard 4.7 Sportshift.
Front grille and front skirt changed.
Rear skirt changed.
N430 boot badge.
Clear rear lights - (don't think they were an original option).
This car would originally have had three keys, not two. The glass key was not available in time, so two valet keys were supplied and a glass key was issued to owners later.

DVLA confirm number plate fits a Vantage, just because it's not a DBS doesn't make it fake.
You might possibly have missed the main point though.
The car has had some N430 visual features incorporated (N430 has a 4.7 engine).
The registration mark (N400) though, suggests a different model N400, which has a 4.3 engine.

If you're seeing dollars may be an odd setting as all coming up as mine comes up as GBP
The plate is an odd one as it's neither an N400 nor a dbs but then neither is the person who drives the 6 series near me "S5XY"
So I can forgive the plate
I find it an odd thing to have done to the car, whether it cost 18k or not it would still have been pricey, I would assume it was to replace the bumper after damage or something
However ALL of this beside, is it not a reasonable price for a manual 4.7 30k 2 owners?

As the proud owner of a pristine, original 4.7 V8V manual, 19,000 miles, built a few months after the car in question, possibly £40k is a reasonable price. I think prices have strengthened slightly during the past year or so. Easier when a keeper though, where value becomes of no importance.
Do you think, that an all original car might be more in demand, than one that is a pretend N430 ?
I have quite a different view to many on this thread, it seems many Am owners are not supportive of any modifications to their cars. It's not a fake, it just has rear badge and something on the side strake that shouldn't be there. Obviously it's on a dodgy number plate but easily fixed.
Underneath it's an early 4.7 with sportspack, it has to be a 4.7 due to updated interior. It's then been modified with V12 grill with lipstick, side skirts, rear lights, front and rear bumpers. (It would have been delivered with original or N400 skirts.) Not uncommon mods to make to an early car. If you like these cosmetic changes then all good, the 18k is believable. I never liked the N400 skirts on my car, it cost approx 3.5K to have them changed to V8S skirts including paint and PPF.
Sportspack means different wheels, shocks, springs and antiroll bars from standard (antiroll bars shared with V8S but different springs and shocks). Sportpack wheels could be optioned without chassis changes.
It has a desirable twin plate clutch upgrade, sports cat will depend on user preference. It also appears that its on PS4S tyres. All in all, I suspect it was owned by an enthusiast and non run on a shoestring.
What's it missing out on compared to a N430, different springs and shocks, bushing changes in some of the suspension arms, quicker steering rack and larger front brakes(callipers, discs and supporting master cylinder etc). Airbox changes with tune released 10bhp and rear wheels were 10J not 9.5J. There were questionable interior trim changes and lightweight seats(which really are a personal preference some rave about them, I don't like them).
There are a few pre 12.25 on PH around this price but all with the early aesthetic and so the price doesn't look bad. Is it a good buy? It depends if you would want to update the looks of an earlier car and how you're going to use it. If you're going to garage queen it, keep it a few years and sell it, you may be better with the N430/V8S, looks like you would have to spend about 10k more. If you're at the top of your budget, are going to drive the snot out of it and would like to modify it yourself then maybe it's not a bad place to start.
If you like the look, check history and make sure it has not been eaten by salt, good luck. I've owned my 2010 car for over 7 years, driven nearly 50,000 miles in it. I love it, and have never regretted buying it.

Thanks dracs this is sort of where I am at
The main offender is the rear badge as its just not a 430 so that would go
I quite like the sills and the bumper change, not sure about the lipstick but equally I dont hate it
I don't want a garage queen as I feel having a car you worry about driving ruins it so I want it to be a daily/ish
I would just go for a bog standard 4.3 but have been a bit worried about the reports of a lack lustre engine. I know I need to test drive both, really, and I am not expecting it to be particularly "fast" (my reference points will be Z4M Coupe, Megane RS275 running circa 310hp and 350lbft (and a stripped 182 track car
) but I am concerned I would get a 4.3 and start thinking about the expensive upgrades on offer at B&R and then feel silly I didnt stretch for a 4.7
I also prefer the seats in this to the older ones.
so all in all if the checks etc come back ok it looks to have been a well looked after 4.7 with a few mods which might put some people off, which is not a bad thing.
I would be interested in the cost to remove the lipstick, however, I am not clear as to whether its some sort of wrap or actually painted on, will enquire today but from the suggested cost I assume its painted!

This car appears to be a perfectly good one, but it does raise questions, as shown by some of the posts above. I don't mind what an owner changes on their car. It is of course always an owners personal choice.
It does appear in this instance, that the owner wanted to change a 4.7 into a look-alike N430.
However, with the stated £18,000 cost, could an N430 be purchased for that extra money? IE. Do the N430 models sell for less than £18,000 more than a 4.7?
Looking at the small details, the look-alike N430 is not a correct recreation anyway.
The N430 boot badge is in the wrong position.
The road wheels are wrong.
The front grille is wrong.
( Road wheels of the era. No boot badge on this press car. )

If you like the car and you like the price, then buy the car and remove the rear badge.
This.I don’t get the feeling that anybody is trying to be deceived. It would be very quick for someone less familiar with the make to find out that the car year pre-dates the launch of the N430.
If the car’s good, it’s still a nice 4.7 Vantage.
