Does anyone know where the the auto dim rear view mirrors on gaydon cars come from? i.e. is there a Volvo / Ford / Land Rover part code?

The Aston Part code is: 7G43-17700-AD

Sorry, but I cannot help with source information.

I enjoy my Vantage being an end of era car and therefore enjoyably involving for the driver.
It even permits me to press a clutch pedal and select a gear, operate the handbrake, switch on lights and wipers, etc.
Although it does have an Auto-dimming mirror, that seems rather new era.

My daily does not have that auto-dim feature. When driving during darkness, I lift my arm just once and move a small lever below the interior mirror. No bother at all and not even any need to look.

If you perhaps want a replacement for your existing auto-dimming mirror, please ignore all the tosh that I have written above.

Looks like it could be from Renault Clio-3 Megane-II Scenic-II.
Do a search on ebay for Renault rear view mirror.

Im not 100% sure, but i thought It looks a bit like a volvo v70 part - if it is you might not be able to swap the whole unit as the alarm and remote locking stuff is inside the unit. (I found this out on a v70 as the auto dim function fails with them - only option is take it apart and get a replacement glass and get yourself a soldering iron and a bucket load of patience)

I also found putting a manual adjust one instead of an auto dim one created all sorts of weird things with locking doors and opening windows !

Citroen C5 Mk 1 has the correct ball joint size, you need to make you own electrical connections though. Apparently Jag XJ works with the right plug but its a bit short. I did a post (as did IainWhy) on how to do it.
