The Newport Pagnell Vantage
Discussion
I have a few friends that are always trying to predict future values and the chance to get some depreciation free motoring and to be honest with you the first generation Vanquish has been on my radar for sometime . The trouble is that they seem to be languishing and on the face of it they have a lot going for them . Lately I seem to be seeing them everywhere for sale , from Derek Mowat in Scotland to HWM in Surrey and I am struck by some of the garish interiors on offer . Very similar to the Jaguar R Models of the same period they seem to " date " the car unnecessarily . Anyone any thoughts or perhaps have already taken the plunge ?

This is one of the nicer ones I have come across and very tempting at the money

The Vanquish S less so but does it have further to climb ?

[quote=Phil74891]They have been fairly static in value for years. A good friend has one and has found it to be problematic. Nothing major, but niggle after niggle if you get my drift. Front sub frames corrode and electrics can go haywire. They also seem to be quite hard to sell. There are several online owners groups who are very active in giving support. I thought seriously about one about three years ago, but ultimately the shape and interior didn’t appeal enough. In the end I went for a ‘72 Vantage, which has been fantastic.

I haven’t been greatly enamoured by the dash myself though seeing one on the road recently in Black , for me at least it remains an impressive sight . Some time back after owning the DB9 I did a bit of research on them , Des Smail at Olney had a nice one at the time . I looked into Servicing Packages at Aston Works and from memory they all excluded the Vanquish which was priced at that time entirely separately . What has surprised me is that even with one owner , full service history and low mileage it still doesn’t lead to much uplift in price .Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
