DBX Demonstrators
Discussion
Today, 4 demonstrators have come on the Autotrader website, all 2023/73.
This makes me think that AML have asked the dealers to put new cars on the fleet in December 2023 to boost registration numbers for the year. ( probably by a huge cash incentive).I haven’t looked into other models.
Interested to know other peoples thoughts.

I would assume that it’s the usual AML MO at this time of year. I’ve had two emails recently offering very attractive terms if I can take delivery of something new within the next ten days or so. So I would assume some dealers are sitting on cars that perhaps, just perhaps, were not built on the back of firm customer orders? LS would have us all believe differently of course.

Yes, and probably not only Aston Martin. There is probably the famous December, 'One final push'.
A few figures;
With the 2023 Q3 results announcement, AML said we have, "marginally updated our volume expectations for the year".
Deciphering that means a reduction of 4%, from 7,000 to 6,700.
During the first 9 months of 2023, the wholesale number was 4,398.
(Simplification) Dividing that into the 3 quarters = 1,466 average per quarter.
Therefore 2,602 are needed to meet the revised lower 2023 target, which seems to be a huge increase on the existing quarterly average.
Perhaps there might be some attractive prices on offer before 31st December.
Stock Vantage prices might be especially keen now, as the new model is soon due.
The Company now only announce their sales to dealers numbers (wholesales), so last minute retail sales might not be relevant.
Ref. building cars to order. A friend mentioned a visit to a Mercedes dealer, where he asked if the specification of a particular showroom car had been chosen by the dealer. Perhaps surprisingly the answer was, "Oh no, the cars just arrive here." The showroom apparently had a huge number of cars displayed, squeezed together, including many unsold EVs.
2023/23 DBX707 at Portland Autos with 4200 miles for sale today at just under £160k, which had a list price of £225k less than 9 months ago. That is some fairly serious depreciation which is slightly swaying me towards a Bentayga, but I do really want another Aston Martin having previously owned a V12 Rapide.

Are you tempted by the easy way to avoid, 'some fairly serious depreciation'.
Offer them £150,000. They meet their target and you are £75,000 up.
Pop on a dateless registration and the DBX will look brand new.
To use that £75,000, an Aston Martin sports car might be fun.
