Vantage 2019 Seat Motor Problems
Discussion
Hi,
I have had issues with my drivers seat failing to slide back and forward. All other movements work OK. The car is 5 years old now and only 3,500 miles. AM have offered a small goodwill gesture, but the replacement cost of a new seat motor is in excess of £4.3k.
Apparently the dealer tried a seat calibration process, but I am not convinced that the motor is faulty, as I can hear the relay click and very occasionally, the seat will move back / forward after pressing some of the other buttons. The car is kept on a trickle charger at all times and I believe the battery is healthy. It has had a couple of spazzy moments starting sometimes, with warnings of Parking Brake release and sometimes just a click, so not sure if it's something else which may be causing an issue with the driver seat module / motor.
I have a copy of the DTCs below.
Can anyone suggest any home remedies I can try, or take as ideas to my local Aston specialist to try?
Many thanks,
Pete

Can't help with the fault codes and I don't know how practical you are but, if it's "do-able" and you have access, my first inclination would be to try to put 12.6V directly onto the motor terminals and see if you can drive it fully backwards and forwards without all of the intervening electronic control gubbins.
If it still refused to move, it still may not be the motor, as they have an overheat protection (and maybe anti-trap) that will make the motor stop if the loads on the seat tracks are too high. One way to check this is to remove the motor from the seat, but that may not be easy and not for the faint-hearted - it's certainly a "seat out" job. And seat out would not be easy if you can't move the seat to access the fixing bolts.
You could check to make sure there's nothing in the tracks jamming then - an inspection lamp and mirror may give you visual access, or maybe an endoscope. One last thought is to slacken off the bolts holding the tracks to the floor of the car to see if that allows them to "spring" and reduce any tight spots. If you do this remember to re-tighten them to the correct torque, as seatbelt loads go through these bolts.
I'm guessing from the price you quote that the dealer is not looking at replacing the motor, but to install a complete new 6-way seat track and height-adjust assembly.
Error fixed - "6-way" incorrectly said "4-way"

Finding a specialist is usually a good plan, when main dealers have difficulty with faults.
However, it would appear that existing Aston Martin specialists, might not want to work on any '2nd Century' models.
The diagnostic and programming workshop tech. needed is a new version, hugely expensive.
Also, being an online only system, there are fears that AML could 'pull the plug'.
Sorry my contribution is zero help, but reinforces my view that I would only own my 2019 Vantage under warranty. In my short ownership, its had
- rear light replaced (water ingress)
- front headlight replaced
- windscreen wiper motor 'fixed' - not sure what they did to fix it
- factory tracker now awaiting replacement
Thats a few K in repairs but more importantly the sheer hassle factor of fixing is totally removed.
Hope your fix is as simple as new battery.

With luck it can work the other way around.
Sorry my contribution is zero help, but reinforces my view that I would only own my 2009 Vantage without warranty. In my long ownership, its had
- twin plate clutch and lightened flywheel (clutch failure)
- door damper replaced
- air conditioning radiator replaced
- battery replaced (routine cost, not warranty)
- tyres replaced (routine cost, not warranty)
That's over £20,000 saved in warranty costs, but more importantly the sheer hassle factor of fixing is totally removed, because other people do the work.
